By the end of January 2, the total number of seats on the 4 charter flights offered by Vietravel for the day had reached more than 50% of the plan. According to the representative of this business, joining the boiling atmosphere before the final match of the ASEAN Cup 2024, the unit opened sales of tours with direct charter flights to Thailand.
The tour program offers the opportunity to accompany the Vietnamese team, supporting the "red flag warriors with yellow stars" in the most important match of the tournament, in which two trips depart from Ho Chi Minh City, two from Hanoi.
The trip is not only a sports journey, but tourists also get to experience a full range of high-class services, from transportation, accommodation to match tickets, with prices ranging from 13 - 17 million VND/person depending on the length of 2 days 1 night or 3 days 2 nights.
According to businesses, the tour price includes tickets to watch the second leg of the final match between Vietnam and Thailand. Fans will receive a red flag with a yellow star T-shirt, headband, and baseball.
In addition to watching football, tourists can visit famous places in Bangkok such as the Four-Faced Buddha, Wat Arun, Wat Yanawa or go shopping freely. However, the tour price is 1.5-2 times higher than the price of a traditional 5-day, 4-night tour to Thailand.
In addition to purchasing a package tour, fans can travel independently or use the Free & Easy service. However, getting tickets to watch the second leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final between Thailand and Vietnam, taking place on January 5 at Rajamangala Stadium, is not simple.
On January 2, the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) confirmed that all tickets for the ASEAN Cup final were sold out.
Mr. Hong Nam, living in Thu Duc City, said that his business trip coincided with the match, but for the past few days he has searched all over the forums to buy tickets to watch but has not been successful.
Airfares to Thailand skyrocket
Meanwhile, the demand for air tickets from Vietnam to Thailand is increasing sharply from football fans.
Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online at noon on January 2, representatives of airlines such as Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air said that the number of bookings for flights from January 3 to 6 had increased dramatically. Many economy class tickets were sold out, and even business class tickets recorded a faster-than-usual increase in bookings.
According to a survey, ticket prices on the Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok routes on January 4 and 6 increased sharply, but there were still many tickets available for many flights, and no "sold out" tickets were recorded.
Specifically: Ho Chi Minh City - Bangkok route, Vietnam Airlines ticket price is from 7-8 million VND/way.
Vietjet flies 3 flights a day from 9am to 5pm, with ticket prices at a fairly high level of 5-7 million VND, Bamboo Airways is nearly 7 million VND/way. Vietravel Airlines has the lowest price, only 4.3 million VND/way.
Similarly, the Hanoi - Bangkok route on January 4 of Vietnam Airlines fluctuates from 4.8 - 8.5 million VND/way, the return route on January 6 ranges from 4.2 - 8.8 million VND/way.
Vietjet 6.8 - 8.4 million VND/way, return flight on January 6th ticket price 6.7 - 8 million VND/way.
Vietravel Airlines offers the lowest price, nearly 4 million VND/way for the Hanoi - Bangkok route on January 4 and more than 3.5 million VND/way for the return flight on January 6.
Bamboo Airways is operating the Ho Chi Minh City - Don Mueang route with a frequency of 1 flight/day, so the ticket price is 3.4 million VND, and there are still many seats available.
According to the airline, the ticket price increase coincides with the second leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final between the Vietnamese and Thai football teams, taking place on January 5 in Bangkok. If you do not fly at this time, the round-trip ticket price will be reduced by nearly half.
In order to "fuel" the Vietnamese team, Vietnam Airlines decided to use wide-body Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 aircraft to replace narrow-body Airbus A321 aircraft on flights on January 3, 5 and 6.
Specifically: Flights VN610, VN611 between Hanoi - Bangkok. Flights VN600, VN601 between Ho Chi Minh City - Bangkok.
Vietnam Airlines representative affirmed: "We are committed to accompanying Vietnamese sports and fans at international tournaments."
Vietnam Airlines currently operates three flights per day between Hanoi and Bangkok and four flights per day between Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok. The airline is also ready to increase flights or use larger aircraft to meet fan demand.
