Among these, the low-cost airline Vietjet has received the most complaints. Accordingly, there are flights that have been delayed 3-4 times, even canceled without “a single notice”, and calls to the hotline also “fall into nothingness”.
Specifically, a social network user Do Nghia shared on Facebook: "I took my 77-year-old grandmother from Ho Chi Minh City to Hue. The flight departed at 8:30 a.m. on April 21, got on the plane and got off twice, then stayed until 2 a.m. on April 22.
“It is almost 4am on April 22nd, I am taking a taxi from District 7 to Tan Son Nhat to pick up my grandmother to go home because Vietjet canceled the flight...”, Do Nghia account informed.
On forums and social networks, passengers reported that this phenomenon occurred on almost all airlines yesterday, April 21.
Accordingly, Vietnam Airlines and Bamboo Airways also had some flights delayed by 1-2 hours compared to the original departure time. For example, flights from Ho Chi Minh City - Hai Phong, Hanoi including VN118, VN220 were delayed by 1-2 hours compared to the original departure time.
An airline official said the reason for yesterday's delay was due to increased travel demand during the April 30 - May 1 holiday and the change of terminal T1 to T3 at Tan Son Nhat airport.
Another reason that happened yesterday afternoon was that there was a thunderstorm in the Noi Bai airport area, causing flights from this airport to the provinces, including Ho Chi Minh City, to adjust their schedules.
In addition, flights departing from Tan Son Nhat also have flight schedules changed due to the airport's interruption in operations to serve training activities in preparation for the 50th anniversary of national reunification.
“From 8-9:30 am this morning, April 22, flight adjustments will continue. This adjustment will lead to a chain reaction, causing many flights to be affected in the short term,” said an airline representative.
In response to passengers’ complaints about prolonged flight delays and cancellations, this morning, the Civil Aviation Authority decided to establish a team to inspect the operation situation at Tan Son Nhat Airport. The team will conduct an inspection of ground service operations at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, which will take place within 5 days from today (April 22).
