Western tourists cycle from Quang Binh to Hue, try famous specialties, praise them as more delicious than pho

Dustin Cheverier (born 1988, from the US) is one of the quite famous content creators in Vietnam with a personal YouTube channel with more than 820,000 followers.

He has lived in Ho Chi Minh City for about 10 years and regularly shares videos of his travel and culinary experiences in many provinces from the South to the North.

Recently, on his cycling journey across Vietnam, Dustin had the opportunity to stop in Hue. He revealed that he traveled hundreds of kilometers from the north of Dong Hoi City (Quang Binh) to the ancient capital to experience Hue beef noodle soup.

Bun bo Hue was recognized by the Asian Record Organization as one of the 100 dishes with Asian culinary value in 2016. The famous dish of the ancient capital is also in the top 100 Vietnamese specialties (2020 - 2021).

“Maybe in the past, I would choose pho, but recently, I find bun bo Hue more delicious. I also like other noodle dishes like Quang noodles, hu tieu, bun rieu,” Dustin said.

The place that the Western guest visited was a Hue beef noodle restaurant located on Ha Noi Street (Vinh Ninh Ward, Hue City). The restaurant has been open for more than 20 years and has become a familiar dining address for many locals.

The American YouTuber said he had enjoyed this dish in Ho Chi Minh City, but this was the first time he tried authentic Hue beef noodle soup in Hue.

At the restaurant, Dustin ordered a special bowl of beef noodle soup, including ingredients such as pig's feet, pork leg, meatballs, tendons, blood, crab cakes, etc.

When the bowl of noodles was served, he revealed that the first impression was that the dish looked attractive, served with vegetables such as lettuce, bean sprouts, perilla, etc.

The Western tourist said that in some places he had visited, people often cooked dishes and used such a small amount of meat that he "could barely taste the meat".

So when eating Bun Bo Hue, the 36-year-old YouTuber feels very happy because this dish serves many different types of meat and the pieces of meat are quite large in size.

“I really like such big pieces of pork. It makes me happy inside because there are many delicious meats displayed in the dish,” he said.

After enjoying it, Dustin rated the Hue beef noodle dish 10/10, continuously praising it as delicious.

The American guest said that the dish has a harmonious balance between vegetables and meat, so it is quite good for health and suitable for people who exercise regularly and need to supplement their diet with protein.

“At first, the broth wasn’t as flavorful as I thought it would be. However, once I added a little more seasoning, it became more flavorful,” Dustin shared.

The special bowl of Hue beef noodle soup that the 36-year-old YouTuber enjoyed cost 60,000 VND. He commented that this price was quite cheap compared to the amount of food served.
