The 123-year-old hotel in Hanoi is the only accommodation facility in Vietnam to be honored by American travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler on The Gold List - 2025.
The Gold List - The Gold List - of Condé Nast Traveler is considered the benchmark for excellence in the hospitality industry. The awards honor resorts and accommodation facilities globally and are divided by continent.
Announced for the 31st time on December 11, The Gold List 2025 honored 72 of the best hotels and resorts worldwide, including 16 hotels in Asia and Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel (Hanoi) as the only representative from Vietnam.
Editorial team of Condé Nast Traveler rated the unit as "a great destination to reminisce about a bygone golden age".
“Behind the classic white facade are two historic buildings, the Heritage Wing and the Opera Wing, newly renovated in neoclassical style, surrounded by a tranquil garden and a romantic outdoor swimming pool,” the US travel site wrote.
Located in the peaceful Ngo Quyen neighborhood, the hotel is an unmissable choice for a trip to explore Hanoi. The historic suites are named after famous guests who have stayed at the hotel, such as "King of Comedy" Charlie Chaplin and British novelist Graham Greene.
According to the unit's official website, the historic Heritage Wing building with 103 standard rooms and premium suites has reopened after nearly 2 years of renovation.
This is the first project of the hotel established in 1901, which has welcomed many heads of state, royal families, along with actors, writers, musicians and many world famous figures.
Mr. George Koumendakos, General Manager of the Centennial Facility in Hanoi, shared: “Being named in the 2025 Gold List of Condé Nast Traveler It is truly a great honor. It is a testament to the team's tireless efforts in creating a difference for the oldest hotel in the capital."
Previously, this unit also received many prestigious international awards this year. For example, the 5-star category of the travel guide Forbes Travel Guide or Top 500 Best Hotels in the World Travel + Leisure.
The category honoring the best hotels and resorts in Asia also includes the 5-star resort Gangtey Lodge in Bhutan, Taj Falaknuma Palace in India and Dwarika in Nepal.
Located in the Phobjikha Valley Nature Reserve in the Himalayas, Gangtey Lodge overlooks a 17th-century monastery. The property is surrounded by mountains and farms. The architecture is inspired by the Dzong style typical of this land with pure white walls and red tiles.
