The first time trying the dish "blushing face" in Vietnam, 2 Korean guests were impressed because it had no bad smell, attractive flavor and praised it as "the best meat dish they have ever eaten".
Battle Trip is a popular travel reality show in Korea.
Participating in the program, artists have the opportunity to explore the cuisine at some famous tourist destinations in Asia such as Thailand, Japan, Vietnam...
In an episode recorded in Ha Long City (Quang Ninh), actor Park Jun Gyu and young singer Sandeul (member of the group B1A4) had the opportunity to enjoy some dishes made from goat meat.
Jun Gyu said that goat meat is considered a very healthy food. In the ancient royal court, goat meat was even used to nourish the queen after giving birth.
“I heard people say that goat meat in Vietnam is delicious, so let's try it today,” the actor told Sandeul.
The location that the two Korean artists visited was a restaurant specializing in goat dishes located on Kenh Liem Street, Ha Long City.
Here, they enjoyed two dishes: raw goat meat with lemon, priced at 125,000 VND/serving, and grilled goat tripe, priced at 105,000 VND.
When tasting the lemon goat dish, Jun Gyu and Sandeul were both delighted and affirmed that they had never tasted this flavor in their hometown.
After trying the lemon goat meat, Jun Gyu and Sandeul continued to enjoy the grilled goat tripe.
When the fresh goat tripe dish was served, the two Korean guests were surprised by the beautiful pink color of the ingredient.
Jun Gyu commented that the goat tripe smelled quite similar to the beef heart he had eaten and thought this dish would be very soft, not chewy at all.
When the goat tripe was cooked, the actor picked up a piece, dipped it in salt, pepper and lemon juice, and put it in his mouth to enjoy. He was surprised because the grilled goat tripe tasted very delicious.
“I tried goat stew in Korea but this tastes completely different. It tastes like a high-class meat dish,” Jun Gyu told Sandeul.
Sandeul also enthusiastically tried it. He rolled the tripe in rice paper, added some fresh noodles, and dipped it in the dipping sauce.
“The tripe dish is very soft and crispy. Because it is tripe, I thought it would be very dry, but this dish is actually surprisingly delicious,” the male singer shared his feelings.
Jun Gyu suggested that Sandeul should eat grilled goat tripe directly and dip it in salt, pepper and lemon to feel the true flavor of the dish.
Sandeul followed the instructions and was surprised by the naturally delicious flavor of the grilled goat tripe, to the point that he exclaimed, "This is really delicious, uncle."
Jun Gyu admitted that he didn't think the grilled goat tripe would be so delicious at first.
He said that Koreans often add a lot of spices to remove the bad smell of goat meat. However, goat tripe in Ha Long has no bad smell at all.
“Of all the meat dishes I have ever eaten, this tripe dish is more delicious than any other.
It tastes like beef brisket but much richer. The texture is quite similar to pork neck but chewier, crispier and not difficult to eat at all,” the actor shared.
Sharing the same feeling, Sandeul also admitted that this was the "best meat dish ever eaten".
At the end of the meal, the two Korean artists agreed that if they wanted to eat goat, they should definitely try grilled tripe because this is one of the most delicious and worth-eating parts of goat meat.
Sharing with VietNamNet reporter, Mr. Nguyen Dung - owner of a long-standing goat restaurant in Ninh Binh said that not only goat testicles, goat maw is also a goat dish with a "blushing" name but is often "popular".
Not only popular in Ninh Binh - a land famous nationwide for its goat meat specialty, goat tripe also attracts diners in many provinces and cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Ninh...
Mr. Dung said that goat mammary gland (also known as goat udder) is taken from the chest (or belly) of a female goat.
However, goat mammary glands are not abundant because female goats have to maintain the herd and are rarely used as food.
“Goat tripe has a distinctive smell and requires skillful preparation. This dish is best when grilled and eaten with fermented bean curd sauce or salt, pepper and lemon.
After being carefully prepared, the chef marinates the goat tripe with a little spice like ginger, lemongrass or satay, balancing the amount just enough so that diners can still feel the delicious crunchiness of the goat tripe when eating," Mr. Dung shared.
