Appeal for relief for earthquake victims in Myanmar and Thailand

(BL-NQ) On April 14, 2025, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Committee of Bac Lieu province held a meeting to implement the Vesak Festival, the Summer Retreat and disaster relief in Myanmar and Thailand.

The meeting called on monks, nuns, Buddhists, monasteries and benefactors in the province to join the Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in contributing to earthquake relief in Myanmar and Thailand.

Immediately after the meeting, Most Venerable Thich Giac Nghi - Head of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Bac Lieu province signed and issued an Official Dispatch calling for relief for victims affected by the earthquakes in Myanmar and Thailand.

The document states: On March 28, 2025, the earthquake disaster in Myanmar had aftershocks affecting Southeast Asian countries, including severe damage in Myanmar and Thailand. The devastation caused by the earthquake caused very serious loss of life and property.

In order to implement Official Letter 95, dated March 31, 2025 of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha on calling for support for victims affected by the earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand, the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in the province hopes that Buddhists and philanthropists will contribute with the provincial Buddhist Sangha to share a part of the donation to the people of Myanmar and Thailand to share some of the loss and pain they have suffered.
