On December 12, the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City sent an official dispatch to Thanh Hang to respond to the supermodel's request to handle false information on the Facebook social networking site named "Hoang Thuy".
The Department of Information and Communications said that after reviewing the content of the petition, checking the facts and working with the relevant individuals, the Department confirmed that it had a working session with Hoang Thuy on December 3.
Hoang Thuy confirmed that the content of these articles did not mention supermodel Thanh Hang. The runner-up explained that the snake symbol or the names of the films Chi Chi Em Em and My Nhan Ke were used to describe the story.
According to Hoang Thuy, in Vietnam there are many people named Thanh Hang, but she did not mention supermodel Thanh Hang.
Thanh Hang said she had mixed feelings after receiving the response from the Department of Information and Communications. She was happy that her request had been taken into account by the authorities, processed, and clarified to some extent the story. However, on the other hand, Thanh Hang did not feel satisfied.
“I have needed an apology for a long time, but it is not important now. I know that the authorities have done their best to bring about a clean social media environment. Now I will only focus on my expertise and definitely not pay attention to unworthy things outside,” she said.
Previously, on July 11, Hoang Thuy wrote on Facebook that her role as a judge for Miss Universe Vietnam 2024 was canceled even though she was invited by the contest's chairman, Mr. Valentin Tran.
The model claimed that she was eliminated because a member of the jury objected to her sitting in the “hot seat”. She said that this person “used his hidden power to oppress the next generation”.
In the following posts, Hoang Thuy used the hashtags Chi chi em em, My nhan ke - the names of famous movies in which Thanh Hang played the main role, and the snake symbol.
On July 16, Hoang Thuy posted a photo of a text message with the content "Thanh Hang doesn't want".
After these articles were posted by Hoang Thuy, many extremists attacked Thanh Hang via social media, even flooding the fanpages of the brands represented by the supermodel to call for boycotts and contract cancellations. This behavior seriously affected Thanh Hang’s work and reputation.
Thanh Hang sent a petition to the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City requesting the Department to handle false information on the Facebook account "Hoang Thuy".
