Airing since November 6, 2023, the movie Us of 8 Years Later aired episode 51 - also the last episode - on the evening of March 6.
However, the final episode received many criticisms from audiences from online communities, film and showbiz groups.
In the final episode, Lam (played by Manh Truong) and Duong (Huyen Lizzie) return to the place with the telescope to watch the stars - a memory that they both shared 8 years ago.
This is also where the couple shared their first kiss. Here, Lam also learned that Duong still kept the couple bracelet, and did not throw it away like he thought.
The film ends with the perfect love of Lam and Duong and "opens" to Nguyet's (Quynh Kool) life after the turn of her first marriage.
Nguyet and Tung (B Tran) not getting back together is considered a reasonable ending, consistent with real life.
The interaction at the end of the film left the audience confused.
Even though Tung was there, he and his biological daughter (Cam) did not have any interaction, while boss Giang (Khoi Tran) and Cam were quite close.
The film also does not completely resolve the story of the third person's pregnancy, Anh Thu, who interfered in the relationship between Tung and Nguyet.
It is worth mentioning that the final episodes were criticized for being too long when they "smeared" the love story of the two main characters.
Even on a public group with 1.2 million members, viewers criticized the film's ending as "no different from a cheap romance novel", no different from "outdated Chinese romance novels from the 2000s".
Manh Truong and Huyen Lizzie in Us 8 Years Later
Manh Truong and Huyen Lizzie were also criticized.
Many audiences do not hesitate to call Manh Truong "king of oil", "seeing Manh Truong is seeing a whole cooking oil distributor".
This is a concept originating from the Chinese movie-watching community used to refer to actors whose acting is "greasy", "forced", "stiff"...
Zhang Han ( The Gentlemen of Dong Ba District ) and Yang Yang ( The Fire of the World ) were once criticized as "oil kings".
Some people even commented that they remembered Manh Truong from the time of The Secret of the Golden Triangle, The Road to Dien Bien or Flying Petals.

Some audiences think that Manh Truong (born in 1985) is too old to play these types of roles.
However, many people argue that "it's not a matter of age but of ability" by citing two cases: Truong Minh Quoc Thai (1974), Cao Minh Dat (1975)..., "the older the ginger, the spicier it is, it's all over the place".
Huyen Lizzie's performance was also criticized by the audience: "Stiff acting", "very poor chemistry" (chem - abbreviation of chemistry, chemical reaction - PV). The couple Manh Truong and Huyen Lizzie's expression of affection through body language was also criticized as "senseless, not touching at all".
In response to audience comments, director Bui Tien Huy told Tuoi Tre Online at noon on March 7 that "the film has finished showing" and "I would like to say nothing more."
