Through the program, the French Institute wishes to create a bridge between French contemporary creativity and the Vietnamese cultural context. Each year, the program welcomes French artists to create and develop creative projects with local cultural partners. The stay lasts an average of 2 months, after which the works will be introduced to the public through exhibitions or performances. The French Institute in Vietnam provides logistical and financial support (production costs, living expenses) for the artists.

The invitation to apply for the program is open to all artists, regardless of art form, and is published annually to select for the following year's residency program. The jury consists of cultural figures and French-Vietnamese experts, chaired by the cultural department of the French Embassy in Vietnam.
In 2025, for the first time, the program will be expanded with projects in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. There are 8 art projects by 10 award-winning artists participating in the program of the year. Of these, 7 projects will be developed in Ho Chi Minh City and 1 project in Hanoi. These projects include many different fields: 2 projects on visual arts, 4 literary projects (novels, comics, graphic novels), 1 project on photography and 1 on music, lasting from January to November 2025.
At the press conference, the organizers introduced artists presenting creative ideas such as: Emmie Massias (who lived in Ho Chi Minh City until she moved to France at the age of 8) and Marine Col with a creative residency expected from January 10 to March 12 with the theme of Mother-of-Pearl Inlay Heritage.
Next up will be a talk by Violaine Lochu and Marie-Suzanne De Loye, with a residency scheduled for February 11-March 10, about their Rau Ram project, which explores the concept of personal and communal healing, through research into the connections between traditional medicine, religious practice, oral tradition and music.
Finally, music producer Nodey - artist "Villa Saigon" 2018 talks about the process of working and composing in Vietnam.
