On the morning of March 11, in Buon Ma Thuot City (Dak Lak Province), the International Trade Conference - Connecting and Elevating Vietnamese Coffee took place. This is one of the main activities within the framework of the 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in 2025.

The International Trade Conference - Connecting and Elevating Vietnamese Coffee is an important forum to connect stakeholders, from managers, businesses, experts to farmers. The discussions on the market, growing area standards, adapting to EUDR and the strategy to build Buon Ma Thuot City - World Coffee Destination... are all of practical significance, helping the Vietnamese coffee industry find a sustainable direction in the future.

This is also a space for Dak Lak to promote Dak Lak - Vietnam coffee products to the world. In particular, with the participation of Ms. Vanusia Noguiera, General Director of ICO, it is a great opportunity for the Dak Lak - Vietnam coffee industry to expand cooperation with international organizations and markets.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Ha - Permanent Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee said: With the famous brand and geographical indication "Buon Ma Thuot Coffee", present in more than 100 countries and territories, it is the foundation for the flavor of Vietnamese coffee and Buon Ma Thuot coffee in particular to continue to spread to new potential markets. Although many encouraging achievements have been made, the Vietnamese coffee industry still faces major challenges that need to be overcome in order to maintain its development momentum in the coming time.

"With proactive and creative approaches, innovation in trade promotion and product advertising, I believe that Vietnamese coffee in general and Buon Ma Thuot coffee in particular will increasingly affirm its quality, reputation and brand, and have a solid position in the domestic and world markets," Mr. Ha emphasized .

This year's conference focuses on discussing in-depth contents about the coffee industry such as: Coffee export situation in the 2023-2024 crop year; world coffee market and consumption trends; assessment of current market trends and barriers to world coffee consumption; market orientation for the Vietnamese coffee industry; the role of enterprises in elevating Vietnamese coffee and building the Buon Ma Thuot coffee brand - the world's coffee destination.

In addition, the conference also focused on discussing the plan to implement support activities to adapt to the European Union's regulations on deforestation-free products (EUDR) for the coffee industry to help Vietnamese coffee growing areas quickly apply the traceability system, support farmers to comply with international standards, promote the development of growing areas meeting EUDR standards in Dak Lak...

The conference focused on discussions on markets, growing area standards, adaptation to EUDR and strategies to help the Vietnamese coffee industry find a sustainable direction in the future.

Dak Lak is considered the “capital” of coffee in Vietnam, with an area of ​​over 200,000 hectares, accounting for over 30% of the country’s area, with an annual output of about 550,000 tons. Coffee is the main agricultural product in the economic structure of Dak Lak province, accounting for a large proportion of the total social product, with an export value of nearly 900 million USD/year.

In 2024, Dak Lak coffee will be exported to 71 countries and territories around the world, mainly exporting green coffee to traditional markets such as Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Italy, USA, Russia, etc.
