Connecting supply and demand of safe agricultural and food products in Thanh Hoa province in 2024

On the morning of October 24, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to connect supply and demand of safe agricultural and food products in Thanh Hoa province in 2024.

Comrade Le Duc Giang, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the conference. Attending the conference were representatives of the Department of Agricultural Product Processing and Market Development (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development); departments, branches, districts, towns, cities inside and outside the province; representatives of enterprises, cooperatives, farms inside and outside the province.

Thanh Hoa's agricultural products are consumed in 50 provinces and cities.

In 2024, the work of connecting supply and demand of safe agricultural and food products will continue to be carried out by the Provincial People's Committee and related sectors and localities, contributing to promoting the connection of production facilities with consumption facilities inside and outside the province. Thereby, OCOP products and regional specialties of Thanh Hoa have become known to customers in many places such as: Nem chua, Muong Ca Da dried bamboo shoots, Cay Noi sticky rice, areca nut sticky rice, Tu Tru sticky rice cake, Ba Lang fish sauce, Le Gia fish sauce, ...

Safe food supply chain models have been formed, replicated, and increased in all three criteria of the number of chains, the number of products controlled by the chain, and the number of stores selling safe food. Movements, models, and examples of safe food production and trading have been promoted and strengthened; chain linkages continue to contribute to the stable consumption of agricultural products for farmers according to the season, and the situation of "good harvest, low prices" no longer occurs. Digital transformation to promote production, promotion, and consumption of agricultural products on e-commerce platforms continues to be promoted, with 355 more enterprises with 400 OCOP products on e-commerce platforms, bringing the total number of enterprises in the province to 600 enterprises participating in promoting sales on e-commerce platforms with over 1,050 products of all kinds. The market for safe agricultural and food products of the province has been widely developed. Up to now, Thanh Hoa's safe agricultural and food products have been present in nearly 50 provinces and cities and have been exported to 20 countries and regions in the world.

Building agriculture to soon become a commodity production industry

At the conference, delegates evaluated the results of production, consumption and connection of supply and demand of agricultural products and food in the province in 2024. At the same time, they exchanged, discussed, resolved difficulties, problems, and proposed solutions to develop production, consumption and promote connection of supply and demand of agricultural products and food in 2025.

Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Giang emphasized: Currently, only about 30% of the province's agricultural products are distributed through the system linking production and consumption according to the value chain, the rest are distributed to consumers mainly through the system of traditional markets, stores, small-scale food and agricultural product businesses. Producers are still passive in production, lack market information, and are not closely linked with businesses according to the value chain, leading to the situation of "good harvest, low prices"... Through this conference, it will contribute to helping the agricultural sector, especially localities, have orientation in production and consumption of agricultural products. Enterprises have the opportunity to sign joint venture contracts, associate in production and trading of agricultural products, improve production and business efficiency, and contribute to building the province's agricultural sector to soon become a commodity production sector with high added value.

To continue promoting the achieved results, overcome shortcomings and limitations, contribute to promoting the development of agricultural production in chains, connecting production facilities with consumption facilities inside and outside the province, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Giang requested departments, branches, localities and production and business establishments in the province to continue to effectively implement the Program on agricultural development and new rural construction for the period 2021 - 2025. The agricultural sector and enterprises, cooperatives, and production establishments operating in the agricultural sector proactively develop development plans and produce and do business with the highest efficiency.

At the conference, witnessed by Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Giang and delegates, 10 contracts were signed between 20 enterprises participating in the supply and consumption of safe agricultural products.
