Vietnam can become one of the leading countries in tropical fruits and vegetables. 'Pulling' international buyers to Vietnam to promote is the way to help Vietnamese fruits and vegetables go far
According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), in the first 11 months of 2024, the export turnover of vegetables and fruits of our country reached about 6.66 billion USD, an increase of 28.2% over the same period last year. The target set by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for the vegetable and fruit industry this year is an estimated export value of 6-6.5 billion USD. Thus, the export turnover of vegetables and fruits after 11 months has reached the target early.

The Import-Export Department assessed that the remarkable growth in the output of key fruits, combined with the effective exploitation of the Chinese market, has helped Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports achieve remarkable achievements in recent times.
Vietnam, with its great potential and advantages in developing agricultural products, has been affirming its position as one of the world's leading agricultural exporters. According to Mr. Dang Phuc Nguyen - General Secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, with the current development momentum and increasing consumption demand from the Chinese market, the Vietnamese fruit and vegetable industry is setting new records and is expected to reach an export turnover of 10 billion USD by 2030. Business cooperation opportunities in the field of production and processing technology of vegetables, flowers and fruits continue to expand thanks to the strong growth drivers of the industry.
Notably, in recent times, along with market opening, trade promotion for fruits and vegetables in both domestic and international markets has been strongly implemented by ministries, branches and localities.
On September 29 and 30, 2024, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, with the support of the Vietnamese Embassy in China, the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association and Chinese partners, organized the "Vietnamese Fruits - Four Seasons of Deliciousness" Festival at Tan Phat Dia Agricultural Products Distribution Center, Phong Dai District, Beijing City, China. This is the first time a large-scale fruit festival has been held abroad with the participation of many large Vietnamese agricultural processing and exporting enterprises, along with Vietnamese agricultural product associations as well as Chinese importers.
Not only organizing trade promotion activities in international markets, attracting international buyers to Vietnam for promotion has also been strongly implemented. In particular, the International Exhibition on Production and Processing Technology of Vegetables, Flowers and Fruits in Vietnam (HortEx Vietnam) has affirmed its position as a prestigious international trade event and a strategic business destination for the vegetable, flower and fruit industry in Vietnam, in the region as well as globally.
In its 6th edition, HortEx Vietnam 2024 attracted more than 200 exhibitors from 25 countries and territories, and welcomed more than 7,000 trade visitors from over 30 countries and territories, creating an ideal platform for businesses to trade, connect and explore business cooperation opportunities in the field of vegetable, flower and fruit production and processing technology.
Following the achievements, HortEx Vietnam 2025 will return from 12 to 14 March 2025 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC). The highlight of this year’s event is that for the first time HortEx Vietnam will collaborate with Agritechnica Asia – the world’s leading exhibition brand for agricultural machinery and equipment organized by DLG. The event is expected to attract more than 400 exhibitors from 35 countries and territories, along with more than 15,000 trade visitors.
Not only investing in scale, the Organizing Committee also focuses on organizing specialized activities. During the 3 days from March 12-14, 2025, the exhibition will host a series of outstanding programs such as: Specialized seminars, Export Forum, Grower Talk, VIP buyer program, Retailer Workshop and Flower arrangement competition. This is an opportunity for businesses and retailers to exchange and share experiences, and update new trends in the vegetable, flower and fruit industry.
In particular, the Flower Arrangement Competition honors the creativity and beauty of the Vietnamese flower industry through works of art made from fresh flowers. In addition, the exhibition also has specialized display areas such as: International Flower Supply Area, National Product Supply Area and International Plant Seed Area, providing a space for effective business connection and cooperation.
Mr. Dang Phuc Nguyen assessed that the International Exhibition on Vegetable, Flower and Fruit Production and Processing Technology in Vietnam not only brings business opportunities, trade and investment cooperation, but also serves as an important trade bridge, helping Vietnamese agricultural products penetrate deeper into the international market, conquering global standards.
