Bringing OCOP products into modern retail channels: It's hard but must be done Overcoming difficulties due to transportation, businesses continue to strongly transport vegetables from the South to the North |
Proactive source of vegetables and tubers after the storm
After storm No. 3, the commodity market is experiencing many unpredictable fluctuations, with prices of many types of vegetables, tubers, and fruits increasing. Talking to reporters of the Industry and Trade Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung - Deputy General Director of the WinMart chain - said that, in the face of the situation of vegetable farms in the North being damaged after storms and floods, WinMart has proactively exploited goods sources from the South to ensure the supply of clean vegetables, tubers, and fruits to meet the needs of consumers. For example, WinEco clean vegetable and tubers products have been coordinated from farms in the South and Lam Dong, quickly transported to the North, ensuring there is no shortage of supply for consumers.

At the same time, WinEco has quickly implemented measures to restore production at farms in the Northern region. At Tam Dao farm, WinEco continues to maintain the production of short-term vegetables such as sprouts, bean sprouts and baby vegetables to promptly meet the consumption needs of the people.
Currently, Ha Nam farm has planted nearly 10 hectares of rice fields and completed repairing the greenhouse system, ready to boost agricultural production. It is expected that in October, 4 large farms in the North will restore 70-80% of production capacity compared to before the storm. This retailer is committed to maintaining supply and stabilizing prices not only before and after the storm season but also throughout the year. In order to diversify supply sources, WinMart has been cooperating with many different suppliers to avoid dependence on a single source of goods. At the same time, the supermarket system has increased reserves of essential goods to prevent shortages and ensure reasonable prices at the end of the year and during Tet.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung - Deputy General Director of WinMart chain - said: "After the storm and flood, the supply of many agricultural products such as rice, vegetables, fruits and pork... in the market was generally affected. To cope, WinMart/WinMart+/WiN has adjusted its import and storage plans, ensuring sufficient supply for demand from now until the end of the year."
Agreeing, a representative of MM Mega Market Vietnam supermarket shared that currently, every week, Mega Market Vietnam still transports 2-3 trips of vegetables and tubers from growing areas in Binh Duong and Lam Dong to the North to promptly supply to people. At the same time, it is always ready to immediately replenish supply when people's demand increases.
In parallel, in recent times, MM Mega Market Vietnam has focused heavily on building a closed supply chain and has been strongly reinforced by 5 purchasing and supplying stations, 2 large warehouses in Binh Duong, and 6 B2B delivery warehouses (Depots). For example, Depots from the Central region to the North such as Phan Thiet, Dong Hoi, Thanh Hoa, Sa Pa..., so the inventory of goods can be supplied for up to 1 month to the North.
Implement many promotional programs
In order to share the spending pressure of the people, WinMart/WinMart+/WiN continues to implement many incentive programs, notably the periodic promotion programs applied throughout the system, bringing the opportunity to shop for hundreds of "Super Cheap" products with discounts of up to 50% along with promotions of buy 1 get 1 free, buy 2 get 1 free. These items are all in the group of essential goods from dry foods such as cooking oil, fish sauce, rice, instant noodles, confectionery, beverages to cosmetics, personal care products... and account for the majority of consumers' purchases at supermarkets.
From September 21 to September 27, WinMart cooperates with MaxKleen brand to launch MaxKleen Brand Week with promotions of up to 38% applied to chemical and home care products such as floor cleaners and laundry detergents. In addition, on weekends, WinMart/WinMart+/WiN nationwide also hold fruit festivals with many quality agricultural products.
In addition to the promotional policies applied to goods in the catalog of more than 600 good-priced products in the system, WinMart's private label products are also products chosen by many customers. Being proactive in the production process and selecting input materials has helped retailers control prices, ensuring that prices are always 10-20% lower than products in the same segment on the market.
Along with developing private label products, WinMart/WinMart+/WiN also actively cooperates with many brands to provide quality products at competitive prices, especially exclusive offers for WiN members. Specifically, with the WiN Membership program, customers save 20% when purchasing 2 product groups: WinEco clean vegetables and MEATDeli clean meat.
A representative of MM Mega Market supermarket shared that the MM Mega Market system in the North is still trying to maintain the most stable supply possible with a commitment not to increase prices of goods, especially essential fresh items such as vegetables, fruits, meat, fish... to share difficulties with people after being affected by storms and floods.
