Vietnamese Karate shows superiority at Southeast Asian Championship.

The Vietnam Karate team once again affirmed its position as the number 1 team in the region after completely dominating the 2024 Southeast Asian Championship held in Thailand.

At the end of 4 days of competition, on the last day of April 26, the Vietnamese team excellently led the whole delegation with 21 Gold Medals, 21 Silver Medals and 32 Bronze Medals, far surpassing all opponents. Participating in this tournament, the Vietnamese team had the participation of many martial artists of all ages, from teenagers, young people to the U21 group and the individual and team championships of kumite (combat) and kata (performance).

Almost every weight class had Vietnamese representatives competing. With the strongest lineup, Vietnamese players showed excellent performance to dominate almost all the competitions.

Notably, in the individual competition, a series of names such as Nguyen Thi Ngoan, Pham Thi Dao, Tran Thi Quynh Nga, Dinh Thi Huong... all won convincingly in the finals. As for the youth group, Nguyen Dieu Ly (U21 women's 55kg category) also showed remarkable maturity when winning the championship.

Besides, the Vietnamese athletes also completely dominated the kata performance events. Only athlete Nguyen Thi Phuong (women's individual kata) could not win the Gold after stopping at the Bronze Medal position and Nguyen Ngoc Tram lost to her opponent Alforte Sakura (Philippines) and won the Silver Medal.

In particular, 02 Gold Medals in team kata (women and men) were internal competitions between Vietnamese teams. That shows the superiority in expertise of Vietnamese representatives.

With 21 Gold Medals, Vietnamese karate completely overwhelmed its opponents. Following behind was Thailand with 13 Gold Medals and Indonesia with 10 Gold Medals. The results of this championship once again affirmed the strength of Vietnam's traditional martial arts.
