Thanh Hoa Karate won 21 medals at the 2023 Youth Championship

Competing from June 9 to 18, Thanh Hoa Karate team athletes of all age groups won 3 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 11 bronze medals.

Thanh Hoa Karate won the gold medal in the female team Kumite competition in the 18-22 age group.

At this year's tournament, athletes competed for 97 sets of medals in 5 age groups for men and women (10-11 years old, 12-13 years old, 14-15 years old, 16-17 years old and 18-22 years old). The kata (performance) category had 25 sets of medals and the kumite (combat) category had 72 sets of medals. Thanh Hoa participated in the Kumite (combat) category in all 5 age groups.

This year, Thanh Hoa Karate participated with a force with many changes when some athletes who achieved good results in last year's tournament were no longer in the age group to compete in the youth championship.

In the first days of competition, Truong Thi Thuong won the gold medal in the individual Kumite category for the 18-22 age group.

As the “locomotive”, martial artist Truong Thi Thuong (age 18-22) contributed 2 gold medals to Thanh Hoa Karate in both individual and team events. With her experience, Truong Thi Thuong had no difficulty winning the gold medal in the individual competition over 68 kg. In the women's team event, she won the gold medal with Nguyen Thi Dung, Le Thi Kieu and Nguyen Thi Nhung.

Thanh Hoa's remaining gold medal belonged to Nguyen Thao Huyen competing in the 14-15 age group. This is a new face, expected to continue to develop in the next tournaments.

Young athlete Nguyen Thao Huyen (age 14-15) won gold medal in individual Kumite (combat).

In the 14-15 and 16-17 age groups, Thanh Hoa athletes also won a number of impressive achievements such as: Silver medal in the 44 kg category by Bui Thi Thuy Linh (age group 16-17), Silver medal in the 62 kg category by Nguyen To Uyen (age group 14-15) and a Silver medal in the female team Kumite category for the 16-17 age group.

The achievement of 3 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 11 bronze medals won at the youth tournament is a stepping stone for the young athletes of Thanh Hoa Karate team to continue to make more efforts, aiming for the next tournaments.
