A 19-year-old man presented to the emergency room with extreme anxiety and pain. A 10cm long headphone cable with a 3.5mm jack was found completely lodged in his bladder.

The male patient came to the Department of Andrology and Gender Medicine ( Hanoi Medical University Hospital) for examination. He told the doctor that he had watched clips and instructions on how to find pleasure online and then followed them.

Accordingly, after masturbating to get lubricant, the patient inserted a headphone cord of more than 1 meter long, with pre-tied knots, through the urethra into the bladder. However, an accident immediately occurred. When he pulled it out, the cord was coiled and stuck in the bladder, the more he pulled, the more pain and bleeding in the genital area. Finally, the headphone cord broke, but one end remained intact in the bladder.

Initially, although he was uncomfortable and in pain, he refused to tell anyone because he was ashamed. A day later, the boy informed his parents and took them to the hospital.

Doctors from the Department of Andrology and Gender Medicine (Hanoi Medical University Hospital) determined that this was a case of a foreign object causing damage to the urethra. X-ray and ultrasound results showed that the foreign object was completely inside the bladder.

The medical team successfully performed an endoscopy to remove the foreign object, removing a piece of headphone cable with a 3.5mm jack about 10cm long, preserving the bladder and urethra intact.
