According to a statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Asem Abu Rakaba, head of the Hamas air force, who was also responsible for the air defense and drone attacks on Israeli territory on October 7, was killed in an IDF airstrike.
Posting on its Telegram channel, the IDF stressed: “Based on intelligence from the IDF and the Israel Security Agency (ISA), IDF fighter jets hit the head of the Hamas air force, Asem Abu Rakaba.
The IDF said that Asem was the one who planned the attack on Israeli territory on October 7 as well as commanded the paraglider and drone attacks on IDF bases.
Previously, on October 14, the IDF also said that the former head of Hamas's air force, Murad Abu Murad, was also killed in another IDF shelling.
The IDF is currently carrying out heavy attacks on the Gaza Strip, with more than 150 underground targets in the northern Gaza Strip.
However, so far, there has been no comment or confirmation from Hamas and the Palestinian Resistance Movement.
