The $5.2 billion deal includes 25 F-15IA fighters with an option to purchase 25 more, all equipped with modern weapons systems, including integration of advanced Israeli technology.
An F-15IA of the 69th Squadron of the Israeli Air Force takes off from Hatzerim Base in Israel to attack Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut, Lebanon on September 27.
The Times of Israel reported on November 7 that the Israeli Ministry of Defense has just signed an agreement to purchase a squadron of F-15IA multi-role fighters, a variant of the F-15EX model produced by Boeing specifically for Israel.
The $5.2 billion deal includes 25 F-15IAs with an option to buy 25 more. The fighters are financed by US military aid to Israel.
According to the agreement, the fighters will be delivered in batches of 4-6 aircraft per year, starting from 2031.
Iran preparing to attack Israel more strongly?
The new fighters will be "equipped with advanced weapons systems, including the integration of advanced Israeli technology," the Israeli Defense Ministry said.
"The upgraded aircraft will have improved range, increased payload capacity and improved performance in various operational scenarios. These advantages will help the Israeli Air Force maintain its strategic superiority in addressing current and future challenges in the Middle East," the Israeli Defense Ministry said.
Israel's Defense Ministry Director General Eyal Zamir said that since the start of the war, Israel has made nearly $40 billion in purchases.
“While we focus on our immediate needs for advanced weapons and munitions at an unprecedented level, we are also investing in long-term strategic capabilities. The F-15 fleet, along with the F-35 fleet acquired this year, represents a historic increase in airpower and strategic reach, capabilities that are critical to the current fight,” Zamir said.
