IRNA said the radioactive substance was created as a result of a research project at Iran's Nuclear Sciences and Technology Research Institute to develop techniques to separate and purify Caesium-137 during nuclear fission reactions.
Caesium-137 is a radioactive nuclear substance with a half-life of about 30 years. It does not occur naturally and is mainly found in spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste.
Caesium-137 has many practical applications in the medical and industrial fields, commonly used in radiation measuring devices, radiotherapy, radiation therapy and many other types of industrial measuring devices.
