For the first time in history, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has revealed the country's vast 'underground missile city', according to Essanews.com.
The IRGC's Aerospace Force has publicly revealed for the first time a missile base described by Iranian state television as an "underground missile city," according to Essanews.com .
The missile base was unveiled in the presence of IRGC Commander-in-Chief Hossein Salami and head of the IRGC Aerospace Force Amir Ali Hajizadeh, according to the IRGC-affiliated Tasnim News Agency.
Iranian-made missiles and drones are displayed during a parade of the Basij paramilitary force in Tehran, Iran, on January 10.
Tasnim said the missile base was used in Iranian raids on Israel as part of operations codenamed "Operation Fulfilling the Promise" and "Operation Fulfilling the Promise 2" in April and October 2024. According to Essanews, Israel said the attacks did not cause significant damage to Israel or its armed forces.
Iranian state television on January 10 also showed footage of Mr. Salami visiting an underground missile base believed to have "dozens" of different types of missiles, according to AFP.

Also on January 10, thousands of members of the IRGC's Basij volunteer militia marched with heavy weapons and vehicles through the streets of the capital Tehran, demonstrating their readiness to face the "threat".
An IRGC commander, General Mohammadreza Naghdi, specifically called out Iran's enemies, the US and Israel, during the parade, according to AFP. Mr. Naghdi said the US was "behind all the misfortunes in the Muslim world".
Mr. Naghdi also stressed that "if we can destroy the Zionists [i.e. Israel] and make the US withdraw from its bases in the region, then one of our big problems will be solved."
The commander of the IRGC in Tehran, General Hassan Hassanzadeh, told state television that one aim of the parade was to "support the people of Gaza and Palestine". "We also want to demonstrate that the Basij is ready to confront any threat from the enemies of the Islamic revolution," Hassanzadeh stressed.
