According to the latest information, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will be equipped with cameras capable of variable aperture, promising to elevate the photography experience for users.
Ming-Chi Kuo, a renowned analyst known for his accurate predictions about Apple products, has just revealed sensational information about the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, set to launch in 2026. According to him, the devices will feature a wide-angle camera with a variable aperture lens, promising an enhanced photography experience for users.

Variable aperture allows the camera to flexibly control the amount of light entering the sensor. A wide aperture helps capture more light in low-light conditions, ideal for night photography and portraits with a blurred background. Conversely, a narrow aperture is suitable for environments with plenty of light.
Combined with the power of AI, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max can automatically adjust the optimal aperture for each frame, delivering superior image quality.
Some earlier reports indicated that at least one version of the iPhone 17 would feature a main camera with variable aperture. However, Kuo suggests that Apple has delayed this plan and will instead include this major upgrade in the high-end iPhone 18 lineup.
Most likely, the major camera upgrade will only appear on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Previously, Kuo also revealed that the processors in the iPhone 18 Pro series will be manufactured using TSMC's 2nm process.
These could be the first iPhones to feature Apple's new processor chip. Meanwhile, the standard versions are still expected to use 3nm chips, primarily due to production costs and technological limitations.
