In an interview with PCWorld , Tom Peterson, a representative of the engineering team at Intel Arc, stated that the company's next-generation GPU, the Arc Battlemage Xe2, is under development, and Intel is also working on the next-generation GPU, the Celestial Xe3. Peterson added that users won't have to wait long to see the Arc Battlemage Xe2 on the market.
Intel continues its efforts to develop its own dedicated GPUs.
Peterson said the company has "good news" regarding the Arc Battlemage Xe2. Specifically, the first chips are already in the test labs, and while he couldn't provide more details at this time, a launch has been hinted at before the end of the year, perhaps in the second half of this year.
Speaking about the Arc Celestial Xe3 series, Peterson said this generation will launch in 2025 as an integrated graphics (iGPU) found on Panther Lake processors before appearing as a dedicated GPU sold as a retail product for desktop computers.
In addition to what has already been mentioned, Petersen also noted that the company is actively researching NPU architecture for its next-generation CPUs, known as "PC AI," which has been frequently discussed recently. Currently, there aren't many applications for PC AI, aside from a few isolated examples such as PCs with facial and voice recognition. It's likely that new features will focus on improving gaming performance, where artificial intelligence (AI) can help create more realistic animations.
Wccftech suggests that this will likely be Intel's primary approach to AI modeling in the future, similar to how Nvidia is doing with ACE (Avatar Cloud Engine).
