In the first quarter of 2025, Van Don district recorded many bright spots with an economic growth rate of 29.4%, an increase of 7.4% compared to the growth scenario; most economic indicators grew; total social development investment capital increased quite well; budget revenue and expenditure were guaranteed according to the estimate. Van Don is making efforts to implement synchronous solutions to achieve the economic growth target in the second quarter.
Economic indicators increased
Despite many difficulties and challenges, the socio-economic situation of Van Don district in the first quarter of 2025 recorded positive results. The economic growth rate reached 29.4%, an increase of 7.4% compared to the growth scenario. The three economic pillars of tourism, agriculture, and industry all maintained growth momentum compared to the same period in 2024 (CK).
In particular, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector continued to maintain stability at nearly VND 780 billion, equal to 146% of the growth scenario, up 8.1% over the same period. The industrial and construction sectors recovered strongly, demonstrated by the stable operation of industrial production facilities right after the Lunar New Year holiday. Notably, the industrial production value reached VND 382 billion, up 59.5% over the same period. Some major industrial products in the quarter included: Processed seafood of all kinds reached 3,320 tons; sawn timber estimated at 561m3 , up 1.4% over the same period...
Trade and service activities also maintained growth momentum, with total retail sales of goods and service revenue increasing by 22.1% over the same period. This not only reflects the recovery of purchasing power but also shows the flexible adaptation of businesses in the context of many economic fluctuations. With impressive start-up activities from the first months of the year, tourism in Van Don district has created a "boost" for growth in the service sector in the first quarter of 2025. In the first quarter, the locality welcomed 473,500 visitors, with tourism revenue reaching 463 billion VND, up 17.4% over the same period. These figures affirm the attractiveness of Van Don tourism, especially when the locality is promoting its image, improving the quality of services and tourism infrastructure.
Total state budget revenue in the district in the first quarter reached 165 billion VND, most of the revenue items were higher than the same period last year, especially some revenue items from land use fees; taxes, fees...
Promote administrative reform, attract investment
With the spirit of innovative thinking, determination to reform and make breakthroughs in the entire political system, closely following reality, Van Don district promptly responded to arising issues, continuing to promote 3 strategic breakthroughs. The district has synchronously implemented administrative reform tasks on key contents: Administrative procedure reform; organizational reform; civil service reform; building and developing e-government.
Van Don focuses on effectively operating the administrative procedure settlement process for people and businesses according to the pilot model of the one-level Public Administration Service Center under the Provincial People's Committee; strengthening the inspection and supervision of the implementation of administrative procedure reform; enhancing the responsibility for coordination between competent agencies in settling administrative procedures for organizations and individuals; promptly and thoroughly handling the reflections and recommendations of people and businesses and updating and publicizing the handling results according to regulations.
In the first quarter of 2025, the Van Don District Public Administration Service Center Branch has publicly posted all administrative procedures; fees and charges are being implemented at the office. The rate of files resolved correctly and before the deadline of the district branch and the commune-level result delivery department reached 99.8% (5,731/5,741 records). The number of records performing online public services reached 5,562/5,918 records, reaching 94%. Cashless payment of administrative procedures at the Public Administration Service Center reached 100%.
After many years of investing resources and promoting and attracting strategic investors, up to now, the technical infrastructure and service system in the district has basically met the development needs, creating a new and outstanding appearance for Van Don. Up to now, Van Don has 146 projects using non-budget capital being researched and implemented by investors, with a total registered capital of up to 100,000 billion VND. Of these, 64 projects have registered to invest using non-budget capital, with a total capital of 62,900 billion VND.
Typical projects include the Ao Tien - Cat Linh Van Don luxury hotel and resort complex; Crystal Holidays tourism, resort and entertainment complex... Mr. Ta Duc Quyen, Deputy Director of Mai Quyen Tourism LLC, the investor of the Crystal Holidays tourism, resort and entertainment complex, said: Currently, the project is speeding up construction progress. It is expected that a part of the project will be put into operation in July 2025. During the project implementation, we always receive support and facilitation from the district and province. Thereby, helping us have specific orientations and develop development plans in Van Don.
The even growth in economic sectors is a bright spot in the economic picture of the first quarter of 2025, which is also a premise for Van Don to promote the implementation of tasks in the following months to ensure the economic growth target in 2025.
