Lak District: Heavy rain flooded nearly 670 hectares of summer-autumn rice crop

Lak District People's Committee said that due to the impact of heavy rain from the evening of September 1 to the evening of September 2, 2023, the water level of Dak Lieng and Dak Phoi streams overflowed, combined with the rising water level of Krong Ana river, causing hundreds of hectares of 2023 summer-autumn rice to be flooded and dozens of houses to be partially flooded.

Specifically, heavy rain caused local flooding in 61 houses (of which Dak Lieng commune had 55 houses and Lien Son town had 6 houses). Currently, the water has receded and people are focusing on cleaning and sanitizing their houses. In Buon Triet commune, a household in Doan Ket 1 village was affected by a landslide on the hill next to their house.

Through inspection, it was recorded that more than 100m3 of landslides damaged the auxiliary structures and 2 doors. Currently, the People's Committee of Buon Triet commune has mobilized excavators to support households to clear the above landslides. In addition, the rising water level of the Krong Ana river broke 3 sections of the riverbank, the section passing through Buon Triet commune.

Summer-autumn rice crop 2023 in Buon Tria commune was flooded.

Damage to agricultural production, as of 9:00 a.m. on September 4, in the district, about 666.8 hectares of rice were flooded and 5 hectares of aquaculture in Dak Nue commune were affected. Of which, in terms of rice, Dak Lieng commune was flooded 80 hectares; Yang Tao commune was flooded 15 hectares; Bong Krang commune 13.5 hectares; Dak Nue commune 128.3 hectares; Dak Phoi commune 7 hectares; Buon Triet commune 407 hectares and Lien Son town 16 hectares.

Faced with the above situation, the People's Committee of Lak district has issued an official dispatch requesting members of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue to regularly monitor the grassroots to monitor and direct timely flood prevention and control solutions. The People's Committees of communes and towns are requested to mobilize people to overcome difficulties, stabilize the situation to cope with all possible situations, and if necessary, proactively evacuate people to safe places.
