According to the book Dai Viet Su Ky Toan Thu and the genealogies, royal decrees, and steles, as early as the 1st century, the Gia Vien people enthusiastically participated in the uprising of the Trung Sisters. In many periods, Gia Vien had talented generals, some of whom established imperial careers. The most prominent was the 10th century - the "hinge century" marking the transition from the era of Northern feudal domination to the era of independence and autonomy of the country when Dinh Bo Linh defeated and subdued 12 warlords, unified the country, ascended the throne as Emperor, named the country Dai Co Viet, and took the reign name Thai Binh.
This is a major event in the history of building and defending the country of the Vietnamese people. The act of proclaiming himself Dai Thang Minh Emperor, naming the country Dai Co Viet, and taking the new reign name Thai Binh, is a strong declaration of the spirit of national independence and national unity, a symbol of the will of self-reliance, self-reliance, and autonomy of an independent, unified, and sovereign nation.
After 12 years of construction and development, the Dinh dynasty completed its historical mission, marking a heroic historical period, shining forever with the name of the outstanding son of the homeland, Dinh Bo Linh.

The 1,100th anniversary of the birth of Emperor Dinh Tien Hoang is an important event, both to pay tribute and to review and deepen the life, career and great contributions of King Dinh, the position, role, historical and cultural values of the Dinh Dynasty, of Dai Co Viet State and of the ancient capital in the historical process of the nation.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: The Party Committee, Government and People of Gia Vien district have inherited the achievements of their predecessors, with the spirit of solidarity, unity, determination, efforts, overcoming difficulties, achieving many important and comprehensive achievements in all fields.
After 43 years of re-establishment of the district (April 1981), from a purely agricultural district, suffering from many natural disasters and floods, Gia Vien has risen to become a developed district of the province. Economic growth has been high for many consecutive years. Agriculture has developed in an organic, circular, multi-value direction. Industry and services have developed strongly. In particular, the district has large industrial parks and industrial clusters, with many projects making great contributions and creating a spillover effect for the development of the province; factories in the district contribute about 30% of the province's industrial production value, contributing about 70% of the province's budget revenue...
The achievements of Gia Vien district have made important contributions to the overall development of Ninh Binh province, and are an important basis for the province to firmly implement the socio-economic development strategy in the direction of "Green, sustainable and harmonious", based on outstanding, unique and distinctive values of culture-history, nature-ecology.

Therefore, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested Gia Vien district to continue to inherit and promote the achievements, unite, build Gia Vien district to develop quickly and sustainably, contributing to the early successful implementation of the province's strategic goals and tasks.

At the ceremony, delegates watched an epic performance about the life and career of National Hero Dinh Bo Linh, performed by artists from Ninh Binh Cheo Theater. The epic took viewers back to Dai Huu village (Gia Phuong commune, Gia Vien) 1,100 years ago, where Dinh Bo Linh was born, to his teenage years of herding buffaloes and playing mock battles in Thung Lau and Thung La with his peers, and the journey of Dinh Bo Linh raising the flag of uprising, nurturing the will to quell the rebellion, unify the country, establish a court, ascend the throne as Emperor, with the title Dai Thang Minh Hoang De, and naming the country Dai Co Viet...
