Dakrong district has established 51 cooperative groups to manage irrigation works.

According to the report of Dakrong District People's Committee on September 18, based on the guidance of the Department of Finance - Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Tri province on the implementation of support for the use of public irrigation products and services in Quang Tri province, from 2023 to present, the entire Dakrong district has established 51 water user cooperatives. Each irrigation project is established with 1 cooperative with 2 to 3 members. The members of the cooperatives are mainly village chiefs and prestigious people in the community. Of which, 38 cooperatives manage irrigation projects under the state budget and 13 cooperatives manage irrigation projects outside the state budget.

In general, water user cooperatives have promoted their responsibility in managing and protecting works and regulating water. Dams and canal systems have been better managed, limiting the situation of arbitrarily breaking canals to get water.

The organization of water regulation for production is carried out more reasonably, contributing to maintaining the life and improving the efficiency of the project after investment; creating conditions for expanding the area and improving the productivity of rice and other crops.

Currently, 10/51 heads of water user cooperatives have been trained and granted certificates to improve their capacity in management, exploitation of irrigation works, dykes and natural disaster prevention.
