Chau Thanh District: Agriculture is still the foundation for economic development

Along with that, proactively implement production area planning, invest in infrastructure, apply scientific advances and mechanization in production; deploy a number of production models in the fields of cultivation, livestock, and aquaculture associated with product consumption linkages; expand large-scale concentrated commodity production areas associated with agricultural product quality certification, build brands, trademarks, and preserve key products according to the value chain.

At the same time, focus on improving the quality and value of agricultural products and linking them with consumption, performing a number of tasks such as: Transferring and applying technical advances to reduce costs in production, producing agricultural products in a linked and safe direction, supporting cooperatives and cooperatives to register growing area codes....

In addition, the district has also focused on implementing projects linking production and consumption. Currently, the district has 2 projects that have been approved for consulting costs. The investor has coordinated with the consulting unit to complete the project to prepare for approval by the Appraisal Council: Project linking production and consumption of Japanese KOI fish in Diem Hy commune and Project linking production and consumption of sapodilla in Ban Long commune.

Regarding the construction of demonstration models, the district has built 28 models on rice plants (each model is 10 hectares), with a total area of ​​280 hectares. In 2024, the district will have 8 products certified with 3-star and 4-star OCOP, one of which is the Dong Tam Snake Farm Tourist Site of the Center for Cultivation, Research and Processing of Medicinal Herbs of the Logistics Department of Military Region 9, which is being submitted to the Central Government for 5-star appraisal. In total, the district has had 40 products assessed for certification, of which 30 products are still valid, including 6 products with 4 stars and 24 products with 3 stars.

TOWARDS HIGH-TECH AGRICULTURE

Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Chau Thanh district, Le Ba Tung, said that with the professional guidance of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the attention and leadership of the District Party Committee and People's Committee; close coordination with specialized departments at the district level; the efforts of the Party Committee, government and grassroots organizations. In addition, farmers always know how to absorb, apply and promote new technical advances, production levels are increasingly improved, many highly effective production models are replicated.

Through the implementation of the Agricultural Restructuring Project, farmers have learned how to reorganize production and find output markets for their products. The project has contributed to rapidly changing the way people think and work. Farmers have learned to connect with each other from production, processing to product consumption, thereby contributing to increasing income, reducing the poverty rate and promoting the effective implementation of the Agricultural Restructuring Project in the locality.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Chau Thanh district, from now until the official end of the district-level tasks and the merger of commune-level administrative units according to the Central Government's policy, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the district will continue to implement the project of restructuring the agricultural sector, converting the crop structure on rice-growing land; submitting for approval and implementing projects linking production and consumption; promoting the application of high-tech agricultural production (net houses, membrane houses, irrigation systems, etc.).

At the same time, advise the district leaders to direct and strengthen the implementation of information and propaganda work, focus on the content and solutions to transform the structure of crops and livestock, promote the conversion and development of key agricultural products; promote linkages in production and socialize investment.
