The monitoring delegation visited and evaluated the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households in Toan Thang commune.

On April 22, the Standing Committee of the Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Duong province directly supervised the removal of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households in Toan Thang and Hoang Dieu communes (Gia Loc).

In Toan Thang commune, according to the plan, the locality organized the construction of 3 houses and the repair of 2 houses. Among them, 1 poor household requested to be removed from the list of proposed support, the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Hao (born in 1947, in Bai Thuong village) because they no longer needed it. As of March 26, 3 households had completed the construction and repair of their houses.

Hoang Dieu Commune has 5 households building houses and 3 households repairing houses. Currently, the households have received enough advance payment to support the construction and repair of houses. 3 households have completed the house repair and put it into use. The remaining households are expected to complete and hand over before May 15 according to the direction of the District People's Committee.

According to the assessment of the monitoring team, most localities have started construction and repair of houses according to the plan of the Provincial People's Committee and ensured the quality of the works. Currently, many households have been handed over their houses and put into use. During the process of building and repairing houses, households are regularly inspected, urged and supported by the Commune Steering Committee to speed up the progress of implementation. Local organizations join hands to support construction days. Households receiving support for building and repairing houses are excited with the level of support and attention from all levels and sectors.

Mr. Pham Van Thac's house in Dien Nhi village (Toan Thang commune) has been completed and put into use.

However, poor households often have no income or very low income while the actual cost of building and repairing houses exceeds the support level of the State. Some households do not have counterpart capital, so it is difficult to mobilize the implementation of removing temporary and dilapidated houses.

The monitoring team requested the local government and socio-political organizations to pay attention to supporting necessary household items so that households can soon stabilize their lives. Local authorities regularly monitor, supervise, grasp the progress, and urge households to urgently complete the project and put it into use before May 15 to ensure progress according to plan.

Continue to mobilize financial and human resources support from organizations, individuals, and philanthropists to support poor and near-poor households during the construction process. In particular, review the urgent housing needs of poor and near-poor households who are not eligible for support to remove temporary and dilapidated houses. Local authorities and organizations continue to join hands with units and philanthropists to support the construction of "great solidarity" houses...

This is the first session in the monitoring program of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Duong province. From now until April 28, the delegation is expected to continue monitoring the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households in the communes of Chi Lang Bac, Ngu Hung, Doan Tung (Thanh Mien), Ha Ky, Nguyen Giap, An Thanh (Tu Ky).
