Mobilizing resources to invest in power grid projects

The electricity industry is increasingly improving the quality of customer service.

Phase 2020 - 2025 investment over 2,261 billion VND

Most importantly, the Giao Long - Phu Thuan 110kV transmission line project, when put into operation, will create conditions for the energization of the Phu Thuan 110kV Station, which will supply electricity to the entire Phu Thuan Industrial Park (IP) operating in 2025 and neighboring areas of Chau Thanh and Binh Dai districts; in addition, the 110kV Transformer Station project and the Ben Tre - An Hiep 110kV transmission line, when put into operation, will provide safe, stable and continuous electricity for An Hiep IP to operate stably.

According to General Director of Southern Power Corporation Nguyen Phuoc Duc, in the period of 2020 - 2025, the total investment capital in the province's power grid reached over 2,261 billion VND, of which over 904 billion VND was for 110kV projects. By 2025, the investment capital in Ben Tre's 110kV power grid will rank 4th in the entire Southern Power Corporation. In the period of 2026 - 2029, it is expected to continue to invest over 3,127 billion VND to upgrade the power grid and increase power supply to shrimp farming areas, remove auxiliary bridges, and upgrade the 1-phase power grid to 3-phase.

According to Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Duc, currently, the Southern Power Corporation has implemented a series of important projects, especially 110kV power lines and transformer stations, such as: 110kV Phu Thuan - Binh Dai power line; 110kV Giao Long - Phu Thuan power line; 110kV Ba Tri - Binh Thanh power line; 110kV An Hiep power station and 110kV Ben Tre - An Hiep power line; Renovation and upgrading of the load capacity of 110kV Ben Tre 2 - Mo Cay 2 - Mo Cay power line...

In fact, many factories in industrial parks need to expand their production scale but do not have enough electricity to operate their equipment, so they operate at a standstill. This affects economic development and job creation for workers. The 110kV An Hiep transformer station and the 110kV Ben Tre - An Hiep line, when put into operation, will help relieve the serious power shortage in industrial parks.

Or Phu Thuan Industrial Park is in the process of completing its infrastructure. However, if the power source is not guaranteed, it will be difficult to attract investment and cannot create more jobs for local workers. Therefore, the Phu Thuan 110kV Transformer Station and the Giao Long - Phu Thuan 110kV line help provide electricity for Phu Thuan Industrial Park.

Removing difficulties in site clearance

Currently, the difficulty of 110kV power line and transformer station projects in the province is that site clearance is slow in terms of investment and construction progress... causing great impacts on production and people's lives. According to the latest report of the Department of Industry and Trade, the Phu Thuan 110kV transformer station has been completed but there is no grid connection for acceptance and energization. The Phu Thuan - Binh Dai 110kV transmission line, which started construction in July 2024, has a total length of 22.7km, with 88 tower positions, and has handed over 83% of the site but the construction progress is still slow.

Or with the 110kV Giao Long - Phu Thuan line, construction started in December 2024, the site has been handed over for 36/36 tower locations, and is currently focusing on speeding up construction progress to complete energization before April 30, 2025. The 110kV Ba Tri - Binh Thanh line, 18km long, started in late 2024, only has the site for 34/52 tower locations...

The main reason for the slow progress of 110kV power lines and transformer stations in the province is that many households have not agreed with the compensation price. The coordination between the electricity sector, local authorities and people is sometimes not timely, affecting the progress of site handover.

According to information from Ben Tre Electricity Company, the slow progress of construction projects and power system development will cause the existing power lines to be overloaded, with the possibility of incidents occurring, causing widespread power outages at any time. Power supply to industrial parks will be difficult, because the 22kV power lines are overloaded and the load is far from the source. Therefore, the quality of electricity will not be guaranteed. Along with that, the release of capacity of renewable energy sources for existing wind power plants in Ba Tri, Binh Dai and Thanh Phu districts will not be achieved according to the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025...

To resolve difficulties and ensure the progress of the project, the Provincial People's Committee and the Southern Power Corporation have agreed to implement a close coordination plan, focusing on strengthening coordination between the electricity sector and local authorities in site clearance and mobilizing people to agree with the compensation plan. Increase construction manpower, request contractors to arrange adequate machinery, equipment and personnel for construction as soon as the site is available. Organize periodic supervision and inspection to ensure the quality and progress of the project according to plan...
