In 2024, Quyet Thang commune strives to meet the new rural standards. In addition to infrastructure construction, the Party Committee and the commune government identify the construction and development of OCOP products as playing an important role in contributing to the construction of new rural areas. Mr. Luong Van Binh, Party Secretary and Chairman of Quyet Thang Commune People's Committee, said: In 2024, the commune promoted and selected 3 products (corn noodles, purple sticky rice popcorn, freeze-dried brown rice vermicelli) to build OCOP products and were evaluated and classified as 3-star OCOP products by the District People's Committee. The products being OCOP certified will contribute to expanding the consumption market, helping people develop production. In 2024, the commune was recognized as a commune meeting the new rural standards, at the same time, the commune also completed the criteria for organizing production and developing the rural economy of the advanced new rural area.
In addition to the commune's initiative, to implement the OCOP program, every year, the District People's Committee has issued plans and directed relevant units to promote propaganda, guidance and support for production entities participating in the program.
Accordingly, from 2019 to present, the whole district has organized over 70 propaganda and training sessions with more than 3,450 participants, of which, in 2024 alone, the district's professional department coordinated to organize 35 propaganda sessions on the OCOP program for more than 1,750 participants. At the same time, from 2020 to present, from a budget of over 2.2 billion VND, the District People's Committee has balanced and allocated support for program participants with over 7,000 bags and product packaging; more than 2,000 labels and traceability stamps. In addition, the District People's Committee also organizes trade promotion activities, bringing products to participate in fairs and exhibitions to expand the consumption market, supporting subjects to promote products on e-commerce platforms...
Ms. Mai Thi Loan, Dong Tan commune, Huu Lung district said: In 2020, with the support and propaganda of the district's professional department, I registered the grilled spring roll product to participate in the OCOP program and was certified as a 3-star OCOP product. After being certified as an OCOP product, the product became known to many people, and the consumption market expanded to other provinces such as Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Quang Ninh... Currently, the average annual revenue of the facility is about 1 billion VND (an increase of about 30% compared to before being certified as an OCOP product).
Thanks to the attention of all levels and sectors in the district, up to now, the whole district has had 18 products evaluated and classified as OCOP from 3 stars or higher, being one of the districts with many OCOP products in the province. Ms. Linh Thu Huong, Deputy Head of the District Department of Agriculture and Environment, said: The implementation of the OCOP program helps increase product value by over 10%, this is also the basis for changing production methods, forming concentrated commodity production areas associated with linking product consumption, increasing income for people, making an important contribution to building new rural areas. Currently, the whole district has 12/22 communes meeting new rural standards, including 2 advanced new rural communes.
From the effectiveness of the program, in 2025, the District People's Committee will continue to strive to have 3 more OCOP products including: wormwood cake (Thanh Son commune), organic vegetables (Dong Tan commune), Huu Lien community tourism product (Huu Lien commune).
