Responding to World Water Day 2025 with the theme “Conserving glaciers”

STO - On the afternoon of March 21, at An Thanh 2 Secondary School, Cu Lao Dung District (Soc Trang), the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society held a ceremony to respond to World Water Day 2025 with the theme "Preserving glaciers". Attending the ceremony were comrades Nguyen Hai Anh - Vice President, General Secretary, Executive Director of the Vietnam Red Cross Society; Vuong Quoc Nam - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province; along with leaders of departments and branches of Soc Trang province and leaders of the Red Cross Societies of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Binh Thuan, Ninh Thuan, Tien Giang, Soc Trang provinces.

World Water Day, held on March 22 every year, is an opportunity for the international community to recognize the decisive role of clean water in life and sustainable development. This program is part of the project "Clean drinking water for the community" sponsored by Procter and Gamble Global (P&G), contributing to raising awareness among people in the community about the use and protection of water resources, especially for students in schools.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Hai Anh - Vice President, General Secretary, Executive Director of the Vietnam Red Cross Society called on students, young generations, future owners of the country to take action together. Let's spread messages about environmental protection, raise awareness of water saving, keep rivers clean and beautiful so that Vietnam can not only respond well to climate change but also develop sustainably in the future, towards a life in harmony with nature. Comrade Nguyen Hai Anh also requested that all levels and sectors pay attention to leadership, direction, promote communication, raise people's awareness in environmental protection, water resource protection; continue to perfect the system of policies and laws, promote transformation and realize the circular economy, towards environmental protection, sustainable development in Vietnam.

At the ceremony, delegates and students were also provided with information about the importance of water to human health; encouraged people of all ages and all subjects to access and use clean water; and instructed on how to use P&G water filter powder packages.

Accordingly, the units including: representatives of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, the People's Committee of Soc Trang province, P&G Company, provincial Red Cross societies, local authorities, schools signed a water saving agreement; after signing, students of An Thanh 2 Secondary School and delegates participated in a hand washing demonstration.
