Gold prices this afternoon, January 25, 2025: The domestic gold market continues to maintain a high level, approaching 89 million VND per tael, the highest in many weeks.

As of 2 PM on January 25, 2025, the gold prices on the exchanges of several companies were listed as follows:

Domestic gold prices continued to rise to their highest level in about six weeks, following the strong upward trend in the global market .

Specifically, the price of SJC gold, as listed by Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC), is 86.8 million VND/ounce for buying and 88.8 million VND/ounce for selling, remaining stable compared to the end of yesterday. Yesterday, the price of gold bars increased by nearly one million VND.

The price of gold bars has remained high for several weeks. In just the past week, each gold bar has increased by nearly 2 million VND. Since the beginning of the year, the price of SJC gold bars has increased by nearly 5 million VND.

Currently, banks are on extended Lunar New Year holiday. Gold prices are being traded and listed by some gold companies with a wide spread of up to 2 million VND/ounce between buying and selling prices when prices fluctuate sharply.

PNJ Company sells gold bars at the same price as SJC Company; Mi Hong sells at a lower price, around 88.5 million VND/ounce. Bao Tin Minh Chau Company pushes the selling price of SJC gold bars closer to the 89 million VND/ounce mark, reaching 88.9 million VND/ounce.

Meanwhile, the prices of gold rings and other gold jewelry continue to remain high. SJC Company is trading gold rings of 1, 2, and 5 taels at a buying price of 86.3 million VND/tael and a selling price of 88 million VND/tael, stable compared to yesterday. If buying SJC gold bars of 0.5 tael, the price is higher at 88.1 million VND/tael.

On the international market, gold is trading around $2,780 per ounce, up $28 from before. Converted using the exchange rate excluding taxes and fees, the world gold price is equivalent to 85 million VND per tael (approximately 37.5 grams).

Gold prices continued to surge amid a weakening US dollar, following US President Donald Trump's remarks about lowering interest rates. The market reacted immediately to Trump's policies.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum, Donald Trump emphasized his commitment to reversing inflation and announced plans to push for an immediate reduction in interest rates. He also called on other nations to adopt similar measures to address global economic challenges.

President Trump previously announced tariffs on imports from Canada, Mexico, China, and the European Union. The policy is expected to be announced on February 1st. The uncertainty surrounding future policies has also led investors to flock to safe-haven assets like gold to hedge against market volatility.

Meanwhile, Jim Wyckoff, a senior analyst at Kitco, noted that the market was somewhat calmed overnight after Trump appeared to soften his stance on China. He said in an interview with Fox News that he "preferred" not having to resort to tariffs.
