Dafusa Phu Da Cooperative introduces cold tofu products to consumers

Graduated from Food Technology, University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University and having worked in the food industry in Japan, when returning to his hometown Phu Da, Mr. Vo Van To (born in 1993) and some friends had the intention of establishing a cooperative to produce clean food products such as: bean curd, tofu, peanut oil...; in which, cold tofu products are popular in the market.

However, in the initial stages of approaching the market, the products produced by Dafusa Phu Da Cooperative encountered many difficulties. According to Mr. Vo Van To, one of those difficulties was that they were clean products, without additives or preservatives, so their shelf life was short. Moreover, as a new product, consumers did not know much about it, so in order to reach customers, the members of the Cooperative had to "run around" to promote their products in supermarkets, grocery stores, industrial kitchens, school kitchens, etc. Thanks to their perseverance in the motto of producing clean food, the products produced by the Cooperative gradually conquered large kitchens. Currently, on average, the Cooperative presses more than 200 kg of soybeans per day. Not only investing in modern machinery, the Cooperative also strictly ensures the production process of the products from the stages of soaking, washing beans, grinding, separating pulp, cooking, etc.

In addition to the main product of clean tofu production, the cooperative is currently promoting the production of peanut oil from local raw materials using modern machinery, following the process of shelling, grinding, steaming, pressing, oil extraction, bottling, labeling... all meeting food hygiene and safety standards. In addition, the cooperative also uses waste products from the production of bean curd, tofu, peanut oil... to sell to farmers and growers to increase the cooperative's income.

Mr. Tran Nhon Giau, Duc Lam Trung Hamlet, Phu Da Town, a member of the Cooperative, said: My family is a farmer, mainly growing rice and peanuts, but income is also unstable because it depends on traders and often has a good harvest but low prices, and a good price but a bad harvest. Since joining the Cooperative, the agricultural products of my family and many other members and farmers have been purchased by the Cooperative at stable prices. Thanks to that, I and other members of the Cooperative no longer have to worry about the output of agricultural products.

In addition to producing the above products, Dafusa Phu Da Cooperative also provides other multi-industry services such as: Post-harvest services; freight transport; processing and preserving fruits and vegetables; milling and producing dry powder... Thanks to that, the Cooperative has created stable jobs for 7 local workers, with an average income of 6 million VND/person/month and dozens of other part-time and seasonal workers.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hue City Cooperative Union, said that Dafusa Phu Da Cooperative is one of the young cooperatives in the city. By choosing local agricultural products to produce clean products, the cooperative has gradually affirmed its brand in the market. Thanks to its young and well-trained staff, they have promoted the ability to apply science, technology and information technology to production and business activities and brought initial successes. This is also the direction and model that the Cooperative Union is encouraging to develop.
