Hungary continues to block Ukraine from joining the European Union

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said that Ukraine has not yet returned the rights that were taken away from the Hungarian minority in 2015.

Hungary will not support any progress in Ukraine’s EU accession negotiations until this issue is resolved, he said, adding that the continued denial of minority rights is completely contrary to “common European values ​​and norms.”

Earlier, Hungarian President Viktor Orban said that Brussels wants Ukraine to become a member of the European Union by 2030, but Budapest has the final say, because Kiev's accession to the community would destroy Hungary's economy .

According to Hungarian President Viktor Orban, the European Union does not want to help Ukraine but wants to colonize it, and forcing Kiev to continue the conflict is one of the methods to do so. He added that Hungary supports the European Union, but is against Ukraine's rapid European integration and without Budapest's consent, Kiev will never join the community.
