(CLO) Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said the US decision could expand the Ukraine crisis to a global scale.
On November 18, Minister Szijjártó criticized the United States for allowing Ukraine to attack targets inside Russia with long-range missiles provided by the United States.
Donald Trump's victory in the US election has created a new reality in which "people call for peace" instead of escalation of conflict, he said.
In a Facebook post, Mr Szijjártó wrote that those who support the conflict “have launched a final desperate attack on the new reality… without even shying away from the worst: expanding the crisis in Ukraine to a global scale”.
Mr Szijjártó added that the politicians who made this decision refused to listen to the people. “This is not only undemocratic but also extremely dangerous,” he stressed.

On November 17, outgoing US President Joe Biden granted Ukraine permission to use US-supplied missiles to strike deeper into Russia, a long-awaited move as Ukrainian troops occupy part of Russia's Kursk region.
Hungary has called for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine for months, something Mr Zelenskyy has repeatedly rejected.
Hungary's foreign minister is on his way to Brussels for a meeting of his EU counterparts on November 18. Hungary is an EU exception in continuing relations with Russia during the nearly three-year Ukraine crisis.
“This will be a tough battle, we need to prevent escalation,” Mr Szijjártó added.
