Currently, it is the time of changing seasons, the weather is erratic, creating favorable conditions for diseases in livestock to arise and spread. In this situation, the agricultural and environmental sectors and localities are actively and urgently speeding up the vaccination progress for livestock and poultry (GSGC) in the spring - summer season to protect livestock, contributing to the development of effective and sustainable livestock farming activities.

The whole province is raising nearly 9.5 million GSGC. In the first 3 months of the year, the livestock herd has developed stably, no dangerous outbreaks have been detected. However, some common diseases in GSGC herds occurred in some localities such as: Diarrhea, swollen head, paratyphoid, coccidiosis, septicemia... causing over 6.3 thousand livestock to become sick, die and over 700 animals were treated.

In order to maintain good livestock development and ensure food supply to the market, since the end of 2024, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Department of Agriculture and Environment) has issued a plan on disease prevention and control for wild boar and aquatic animals in the spring-summer crop of 2025. According to the statistics of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, this spring-summer crop, the whole province plans to vaccinate over 3.1 million wild boar; including over 373 thousand cattle, nearly 30 thousand dogs and cats, and over 2.7 million poultry of all kinds. The vaccination period takes place from March 6 to June 30.

In addition to allocating the number of vaccines to localities according to specific vaccination times, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine distributed nearly 26,000 medical masks, nearly 2,600 protective clothing sets, 8,600 pairs of medical gloves, 318 syringes of avian influenza vaccine... to the grassroots veterinary force directly performing vaccinations.

Since February, the veterinary force of Khoai Chau district has organized statistics and reviewed the livestock herd to be vaccinated to register the number with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine. Mr. Nguyen Van Duy, Head of the Khoai Chau District Veterinary Station, said: The station assigned staff in charge of the area to regularly guide farmers in implementing disease prevention measures, applying biosafety farming techniques, and cleaning and disinfecting the breeding area. By April 10, the district had completed vaccination against septicemia for over 2,200 buffaloes and cows; vaccinated against two red diseases (cholera and septicemia) for 30,000 pigs, reaching 95% of the number of vaccines received.

From the measures implemented by the professional sector, local authorities, and livestock farmers have been proactive in disease prevention and control. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Cong in Bac Son commune (An Thi): "In order for livestock farming to develop stably and effectively, her family focuses on spraying disinfectants, disinfecting the livestock environment, and applying biosafety livestock farming measures. Every year, in addition to a number of vaccines supported by the State for vaccination, her family also proactively injects livestock with many types of vaccines suitable for the livestock's development process. Therefore, nearly 100 pigs of her family grow healthily, limiting diseases".

By April 10, the whole province had vaccinated nearly 228,000 pigs against two red diseases, reaching 97% of the number of vaccines distributed, and completed vaccination against anthrax for over 26,500 buffaloes and cows...

This year, the vaccination work for livestock has encountered some difficulties due to the thin veterinary force at the grassroots level, while the areas of some villages and communes after mergers and consolidations have been expanded with a large number of livestock... Therefore, localities need to increase propaganda to livestock households about the purpose, meaning and effectiveness of vaccination for livestock; the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine must provide sufficient and timely vaccines, guide the veterinary staff at the grassroots level and the vaccination force of localities, and livestock households on measures to preserve vaccines, injection techniques, and disease prevention...
