People of Hung Lo commune prepare facilities for Hung King's death anniversary activities and annual village festival.
Hung Lo ancient village in Hung Lo commune still preserves many valuable cultural heritages, lasting vitality and spread. With a history of hundreds of years, Hung Lo ancient village owns a system of ancient architectural relics associated with the Hung King period, notably the historical and cultural relic area of Xom Communal House - Hung Lo Communal House (part of the Hung Temple historical and cultural relic complex). Hung Lo Communal House was built under King Le Hy Tong with ancient architecture, artistic value and is preserved almost intact to this day.
The communal house still preserves many valuable ancient worship objects such as: Dinh, lamp, incense burner, bronze crane and some ancient porcelain vases, along with incense tables, palanquins... ... dating back hundreds of years. This is not only an important cultural and religious address but also a highlight in the spiritual tourism tour, cultural experience of visitors when coming to the festival city of returning to the origin.
Every year, on the occasion of the Hung King's death anniversary (10th day of the 3rd lunar month) and the Sanctification feast (12th day of the 9th lunar month), the Hung Lo Communal House traditional festival is held with many rituals and activities such as: Incense offering ceremony, offerings at the village communal house; ancient village Xoan singing performance and cultural exchange; banh chung wrapping contest, chicken offering contest; display and introduction of craft village products; volleyball exchange; chess playing; tug of war contest, cockfighting,... imbued with the cultural identity of the Ancestral Land.
In 2022, Hung Lo Communal House Festival and Hung Lo Community Cultural Tourism Site were included in the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. This is an important recognition, contributing to spreading the value of heritage and arousing pride in the local community.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tong - Head of Hung Lo Communal House said: “From ancient times to the present, the communal house has always been the place to organize important local rituals, expressing deep gratitude for the merits of our ancestors. At the same time, it is an opportunity for people to exchange and connect with each other, together preserving and promoting the good cultural values of their homeland. Preserving and promoting traditional cultural values is also an important foundation to promote local economic development”.
Not only preserving traditional rituals, Hung Lo commune also pays special attention to preserving and promoting the value of Xoan singing heritage - Representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity. In recent years, the locality has always created favorable conditions for artisans to practice, teach Xoan singing to the younger generation and bring the heritage into community tourism activities. Visitors to Hung Lo can listen to Xoan singing at the village communal house, in ancient houses, creating a space to experience the culture of the Northern countryside.
Hung Lo Commune has proactively implemented many solutions to develop community tourism associated with heritage conservation; promoted propaganda, raised people's awareness of the role of heritage in economic development, and encouraged people to directly participate in tourism activities. Many households have shifted their economic structure, combining agriculture, small-scale industry with tourism services, creating stable income and diversifying livelihoods.
In 2023, the product "Hung Lo Community Tourism" was recognized as the province's first 3-star OCOP product in the field of community tourism services, marking an important development step of the locality in the journey of professionalizing tourism products.
To spread the image of Hung Lo ancient village to domestic and foreign tourists, the locality has actively promoted tourism on platforms and social networks, and coordinated with tourism businesses to build suitable tours. In addition to cultural and tourism values, Hung Lo is also known as the land of long-standing traditional craft villages.
Villagers take care of every step to produce Hung Lo rice noodles of high quality that are well received by many consumers.
Notably, the products of the two traditional craft villages of Hung Lo, Chung cake and rice noodle making, both meet OCOP standards. OCOP products not only affirm their economic value but are also an indispensable part of the journey of developing local tourism. Many tourists coming to Hung Lo ancient village want to visit the craft village, directly experience the process of making noodles, wrapping Chung cake..., enjoy traditional specialties and buy products as gifts.
Comrade La Tien Boong - Vice Chairman of Hung Lo Commune People's Committee said: "Since the beginning of the year, Hung Lo community cultural tourism site has welcomed nearly 100 groups of visitors, including 79 domestic groups with 4,763 visitors and 17 international groups with 294 visitors. Through tourism activities, people have gradually raised their awareness of environmental protection, keeping village roads and alleys clean and beautiful; actively preserving and conserving cultural identity, traditional crafts...
Creating a foundation for the locality to continue developing sustainable community tourism associated with effectively exploiting traditional cultural values, contributing to promoting and shifting the local economic structure. The poverty rate of the whole commune is currently only 0.45%, the average income of the commune is from 54 - 57 million VND/person/year".
Amidst the hustle and bustle of modern life, the ancient village of Hung Lo still retains its peaceful, slow, and tranquil features in the traditional values that have been passed down through generations. The economy is increasingly developing, but in Hung Lo, each family and hamlet still focuses on educating and passing on the tradition of building and preserving the village to the next generation. Perhaps it is this rustic, rich identity that has left many impressions in the hearts of visitors.
