In recent days, taking advantage of favorable weather, farmers in Hung Ha district have focused human and material resources on the fields to speed up the progress of planting winter-spring rice, ensuring the best time frame.

At 6am, in the fields of Dan Chu commune, farmers were busy planting rice to race against time. The sounds of plows, harrows, and transplanters mixed with laughter made the countryside picture even more cheerful.
Mr. Nguyen Van Manh, Phu Hoi village shared: After completing the spring rice harvest, my family urgently brought the machine to the field to prepare the land and sow rice seedlings according to the crop schedule. This year, my family maintained the planting of nearly 10 hectares of rice fields. With the spirit of urgency and applying the method of tray seeding and machine planting, my family completed the planting of the entire area in just 2 days.
This year, Dan Chu commune strives to plant over 240 hectares of rice. Up to now, the whole commune has planted 90% of the area, of which 40 hectares are machine-planted.
Mr. Dinh Van Sam, Director of Dan Chu Agricultural Service Cooperative, said: To keep up with the production season, we have promoted and mobilized people to immediately prepare the land after harvesting spring rice; the Cooperative has prepared enough rice seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides to serve the people; assigned the irrigation team to closely monitor the fields, inspect the fields, organize pumping, and regulate water appropriately to ensure that the fields have enough water for people to sow and plant. In addition, the Cooperative has mobilized people to proactively eradicate golden apple snails immediately after planting to protect the newly planted rice area.
In the fields of Dong Phu village, Doc Lap commune, members of the Agricultural Service Cooperative are quickly transporting fresh green rice seedlings to the fields for planting. Since 2012, with the support of the province and district, the Cooperative has invested nearly 1 billion VND to buy 3 transplanters, 14,000 seedling trays, and organized planting for 50 hectares of people in the commune at a price of 280,000 - 300,000 VND/sao.
Mr. Dao Van Thong, Director of the Cooperative, said: Currently, a transplanter can transplant 4-5 acres/day. The Cooperative undertakes to provide synchronous services for farmers from land preparation, sowing and rice planting. Thanks to the active application of mechanization, agricultural production in Doc Lap is more convenient than before. According to calculations from the spring crop of 2023, the rice yield transplanted by transplanter is 7% higher than that of traditional planting.
Mr. Nguyen Van Xung, Bui Xa village said: My family planted 2.5 hectares of rice. Previously, every harvest season, we had to hire people to plant rice, paying an average of 300,000 - 400,000 VND/day, not to mention the cost of buying seeds and taking care of the seedlings. Now switching to machine planting, the cost and labor have been greatly reduced, taking only about 20 minutes/sao with a price of 280,000 VND/sao. The application of machine planting in production brings about clear effects such as reducing labor, reducing production costs, speeding up production progress within the best time frame, ensuring rice planting techniques, limiting pests and diseases, thereby contributing to increasing rice production efficiency.
Farmers in Hung Ha district actively apply mechanization in production.
According to the plan, in the 2023 crop season, Hung Ha district will cultivate 10,500 hectares, of which 60-65% will be high-yield rice varieties, the rest will be good quality rice varieties. In order for the crop season to be highly effective, the District People's Committee has directed communes and towns to strengthen propaganda and mobilize people to innovate their thinking, apply scientific and technical advances to intensive farming, plan production areas according to model fields; strictly implement the rice variety structure and crop calendar.
Mr. Pham Van Binh, Head of the District's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said: To ensure 100% of the area is planted on schedule and with the right variety structure, we have recommended that farmers harvest rice and mobilize all means to prepare the land quickly, and flexibly transfer tillage machines between localities. At the same time, we have directed agricultural service cooperatives to coordinate with units supplying quality seeds, materials, and fertilizers to farmers; proactively supply water and drain water for production. Currently, localities in the district have planted nearly 6,000 hectares; taking advantage of favorable weather, urging farmers to focus on human resources to speed up the progress of land preparation and planting the remaining winter-spring rice area. At the same time, we actively kill rats by manual methods or biological baits, catch golden apple snails, and take care of the planted rice area so that the winter-spring rice quickly takes root and recovers.
With close supervision in agricultural production and the proactive start of production from the beginning of the season by localities, this year, farmers in Hung Ha district promise to continue to welcome a prosperous "golden season".
