The 2025 ITTF World Cup will take place at the Galaxy Arena in Macau, China from April 14 to 20, bringing together the top 48 male and 48 female players. This is one of the three most prestigious tournaments in the world, along with Olympic table tennis and the World Table Tennis Championships.
There were no surprises in the women's singles when Mima Ito (Japan) was the only non-Chinese player to reach the semi-finals. Similar to many other tournaments, Ito was eliminated early when she lost to 21-year-old Kuai Man, making the final a Chinese internal battle.

The result was also easy to predict when world number 1 Sun Ying-sha easily defeated Kuai Man with a score of 4-0. This is Sun's second consecutive World Cup championship and after 26 World Cups, China has won the women's singles 25 times.
The earthquake broke out in the men's singles when the world No. 5 Brazilian Hugo Calderano overcame a series of big names to reach the semi-finals. Trailing 3-1 by world No. 1 Wang Chu-qin, Calderano won three consecutive games to complete an incredible comeback with a final score of 4-3.
Calderano then went on to face world number 2 Lin Shi-dong of China in the final. After losing the first set 6-11, Calderano fought back to win four consecutive sets to claim the title.
