VTC NewsVTC News16/11/2024

Agricultural cooperatives are one of the important components, contributing to promoting agricultural and rural development in Tay Ninh. Through the implementation of the province's policies to support collective economy and agriculture, cooperatives are increasingly expanding their services, improving service quality and operational efficiency, bringing practical benefits to members and local communities.

Diversify services

In recent years, many agricultural cooperatives in Tay Ninh have transformed strongly. Previously, the activities of cooperatives mainly focused on basic services such as caring for and harvesting agricultural products. However, with the support of agricultural and rural development policies, many cooperatives have expanded their activities, providing more diverse services such as:

Supply of livestock and crop varieties: Cooperatives such as Long Thanh Bac Agriculture have invested in high-yield rice and fruit tree varieties to meet the needs of members and farmers in the region.

Supply of materials, fertilizers, feed and pesticides: These are essential services that help reduce production costs for farmers thanks to reasonable prices and guaranteed quality supply.

Product consumption services: some cooperatives have signed contracts with businesses to purchase agricultural products from members at stable prices. For example, Suoi Day Agricultural Cooperative has cooperated with agricultural processing companies, ensuring stable output for products such as custard apple, rubber, and noodles.

Thanks to these improvements, the rate of members using services at cooperatives has increased significantly. According to a report by the Tay Ninh Province Cooperative Union, in 2023, more than 85% of cooperative members used at least one type of service provided by cooperatives, an increase of 20% compared to 2018. This not only improves the operational efficiency of cooperatives but also improves the lives of members, helping them save on production costs and increase income.

The effective operation of agricultural cooperatives has brought many benefits to members and society. According to statistics, in 2023, the total revenue of agricultural cooperatives in the province reached more than 1,500 billion VND, of which many cooperatives had profits of 200-300 million VND/year.

Not only fulfilling their tax obligations to the State, many cooperatives also actively contribute to the construction of public welfare works. For example, Tan Chau Agricultural Cooperative annually contributes 50-70 million VND to build rural roads, schools and community facilities. These contributions have helped change the face of the countryside, improve people's living conditions and promote sustainable development.

Bau Don Fruit Cooperative, Go Dau District, was established in 2020 with only 32 members, managing and cultivating 40 hectares of durian. After more than three years of operation, the Cooperative has continuously developed and expanded its scale, currently having 62 members with a cultivation area of over 115 hectares.

Bau Don Fruit Cooperative's durian products have achieved 4-star OCOP certification, affirming their superior quality and competitiveness in the market. In particular, the Cooperative has proactively registered growing areas and built a QR code for durian brands.

The application of labels and QR codes not only helps to affirm the brand but also increases transparency. Consumers can easily identify the product, check the origin of Bau Don durian, and be assured of the quality. This has helped the Cooperative's durian to be present in stores and large supermarket chains nationwide, especially in large markets such as Hanoi.

In order to ensure stable output for products, the cooperative has signed a contract with a fruit export enterprise, helping to stabilize selling prices and improve business efficiency. This cooperation not only brings economic benefits to members but also creates favorable conditions for expanding international markets.

Thanks to the right strategy and support from agricultural development policies of Tay Ninh province, Bau Don Fruit Cooperative is becoming a typical model, not only increasing farmers' income but also contributing to bringing local agricultural products to the market.

In addition, cooperatives also support members in difficult situations. Typically, during the severe drought in 2022, Trang Bang Agricultural Cooperative organized the provision of free irrigation water to 200 member households, helping them overcome difficulties and stabilize production.

Support policy - Leverage for development

Recognizing the important role of cooperatives in agricultural and rural development, Tay Ninh province has issued many practical support policies. Resolution No. 09-NQ/TU of the Tay Ninh Provincial Party Committee on collective economic development in the 2021-2025 period has specified major orientations, creating favorable conditions for cooperatives to operate.

Financial and credit support: The province has implemented a preferential loan program through the Social Policy Bank, helping cooperatives have capital to invest in infrastructure and expand production. By the end of 2023, the total capital support for agricultural cooperatives will reach more than 200 billion VND, helping 70% of cooperatives invest in modern machinery and improve labor productivity.

Training and improving management capacity: Every year, the province organizes more than 20 training courses for cooperative managers on management skills, business planning and information technology application. Thanks to that, the management capacity of the cooperative leadership team has been significantly improved.

Connecting product consumption: Tay Ninh province regularly organizes trade fairs and events to connect cooperatives with domestic and foreign enterprises. For example, at the 2023 Agricultural Fair, many cooperatives signed product consumption contracts worth more than 50 billion VND, expanding the market for local agricultural products.

Despite many achievements, agricultural cooperatives in Tay Ninh still face a number of challenges, such as lack of long-term investment capital, difficulties in accessing international markets and limitations in modern production technology.

To overcome these limitations, Tay Ninh province sets out development orientations in the coming time such as: Continuing to improve support policies, especially policies on land, credit and science and technology so that cooperatives have enough resources for investment and sustainable development.

The province will prioritize supporting cooperatives to transform into smart agricultural models, applying high technology to improve product quality and reduce production costs. Cooperatives need to cooperate closely with businesses to build value chains from production to consumption, while expanding export markets by meeting international standards.

With support from agricultural and rural development policies of Tay Ninh province, agricultural cooperatives not only improve operational efficiency but also actively contribute to community development and improve the lives of members.

In the future, with the right orientation and continuous efforts, Tay Ninh agricultural cooperatives will continue to develop strongly, becoming an important driving force in the cause of sustainable agricultural and rural development.
