Specifically, the two defendants, including: Phan Dinh Truong (born in 1984) received 3 years in prison; Tang Khac Khanh (born in 1999, both residing in Phu Tuc town, Krong Pa district) received 1 year in prison for the crime of "Organizing gambling". The remaining defendants, including: Bui Tan Huong (born in 1976, residing in Son Hoa district, Phu Yen province) received 18 months in prison; Pham Ngoc Thuong (born in 1986, residing in Phu Hoa district, Phu Yen province) received 14 months in prison; Bui Trung Kien (born in 1979, residing in Chu Gu commune, Krong Pa district); Truong Van Hieu (born in 1961, residing in Phu Tuc town) and Tran Vinh Loc (born in 1983, residing in Phu Can commune, Krong Pa district) received the same sentence of non-custodial reform for the crime of "Gambling".
According to the case file, in early 2019, Truong rented a house from a resident on Tran Hung Dao Street (in Group 9, Phu Tuc Town) to work as a carpenter and raise fighting cocks. Here, Truong invited a number of people who were passionate about raising fighting cocks to his house to play and bring the fighting cocks out to "fight" for training and sale. However, from the end of September 2022 to October 22, 2022, every Saturday and Sunday, Truong invited cockfighting enthusiasts in Phu Tuc Town and people from other localities to bring chickens to his house to organize gambling in the form of cockfighting and participate in betting on wins and losses. To serve his work, Truong invited Khanh (Truong's nephew) to come to clean the cockfighting arena and serve food and drink to gamblers in order to profit from the difference.
On October 22, 2022, Huong, Thuong, Kien, Hieu and Loc brought money to participate in betting at Truong's cockfighting arena. While gambling in the form of cockfighting for money, they were discovered by the authorities, caught red-handed, and confiscated from the gambling den more than 108 million VND and related evidence.
