On the morning of February 7, many stores in Da Nang were crowded with customers waiting to buy roast pork to worship the God of Wealth.
On the morning of February 7 (January 10), many roast pork shops on the streets around Hoa Khanh market (Lien Chieu district, Da Nang city) were crowded with customers. Long lines of people waited to buy roast pork to worship the God of Wealth on the day of the God of Wealth.
The staff in the store, from the continuous stages of roasting, chopping, and packaging, still cannot keep up with the sales. In addition to roasted pork pieces, whole roasted suckling pigs are also chosen by many people. Roasted pork is sold for 330,000-350,000 VND/kg.
For many families, the 10th of January is very important, especially for those who do business. On this day, they buy offerings to worship the God of Wealth, praying for luck, fortune, and smooth business. Many people choose roast pork in the offering tray to worship the God of Wealth.
The roast pork shop on Dang Dung Street (Lien Chieu District) has 5 ovens that are constantly on fire but still cannot serve customers. Customers said that even though they had made reservations in advance, they still had to line up and wait more than 30 minutes for their turn to buy.
Ms. Ha, the owner of a roast pork shop, said that on a normal day her shop sells about 50kg of roast pork. Today, the amount of meat sold increased 5 times compared to normal days but it was still not enough.
“Many shops worship the God of Wealth very early. To have enough goods to serve customers on the God of Wealth’s day, I have to get up at 1am to prepare. Today, the shop also added more workers,” said Ms. Ha.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan (owner of a roast pig shop in Hoa Khanh market) shared that God of Wealth Day is an important day, the first opening day of the year for businesses as well as people. In addition to buying gold for luck, roast pig is a popular offering.
“On normal days, my restaurant has 3 employees roasting pigs, but on God of Wealth Day, it has to increase to 6 people. The roasting ovens also have to operate at full capacity,” said Mr. Tuan.
In addition to roast pork, banh chung, shrimp, eggs... are also chosen by many people in Da Nang to display on the altar of the God of Wealth.
