Tu Doan Commune Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative: Developed from the potato consumption linkage model

- In recent years, the Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative (HTX) of Tu Doan Commune (Ban Quan Village, Tu Doan Commune, Loc Binh District) has boldly cooperated in the production of a number of agricultural products with households in the commune. Thereby, contributing to ensuring output for people and creating jobs for local workers.

Established in 2019 with 8 members, Tu Doan Commune Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative mainly operates in the field of agricultural production and trading. Identifying the strengths of the locality, from the beginning, the Cooperative boldly planted and linked potato consumption with households in the commune.

Ms. Tran Thi Ai, Director of Tu Doan Commune Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative, said: Before establishing the cooperative, I realized that the quality of potato products in Tu Doan Commune was very good. However, every year, the output of the products was unstable and the price was unstable. Therefore, I boldly established the cooperative with the hope of supporting consumption for the people as well as creating jobs for local workers.

With clear goals and plans, since 2019, when the cooperative went into production, the cooperative has planted 50 hectares of potatoes; signed a consumption linkage contract with households in Tu Doan and Khuat Xa communes, Loc Binh district with an area of 60 hectares. Thanks to the advantages of soil as well as the experience of local potato growers, from 2019 to now, the cooperative's potato growing and consumption linkage area has developed very well, giving high productivity.

Mr. Vi Van Giang, a resident of Ban Cang village, Khuat Xa commune, said: In the past, every time I harvested potatoes, my family worried about the price and output. Therefore, this year, my family signed a consumption contract with the Tu Doan Commune Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative for an area of 5 sao. During the planting and care process, the Cooperative regularly discussed with me about planting and fertilization techniques, so this year the potato yield was higher than every year, about 8 quintals/sao.

Along with Mr. Vi Van Giang's household, in the 2025 potato crop, the potato growing area of the cooperative and associated households achieved high yields of about 20 tons/ha. As soon as the potatoes were harvested, the Tu Doan Commune Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative directly came to the garden to buy them at a stable price of about 7,000 VND/kg. Thanks to that, local people no longer have to worry about output.

According to the Director of Tu Doan Commune Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative, from 2019 to present, the Cooperative has maintained a stable production area and continued to link potato consumption with local households; searching for and developing consumption markets for potato products to provinces and cities such as Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Hanoi ... Thanks to that, annual revenue always reaches over 2 billion VND.

Through its effective operations, the cooperative has created stable jobs for 20 local workers with an income of about 10 million VND/month. In addition, during the potato production season, the cooperative creates jobs for about 100 seasonal workers (for about 3-4 months) with an income of 200,000 - 300,000 VND/person/day. Thereby, contributing to helping people stabilize their economy and increase their income.

With the success of the potato growing and consumption linkage model, in early 2025, Tu Doan Commune Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative plans to continue signing contracts to link consumption of a number of other agricultural products such as tomatoes; cucumbers... Therefore, from the beginning of 2025, the Cooperative has invested more than 2 billion VND to build and install cold storage, expand the factory with an area of about 300 m2, it is expected that around June 2025, the above items will be completed and put into use.

Mr. Lanh Van Kien, Chairman of Tu Doan Commune People's Committee affirmed: Since its operation, Tu Doan Commune Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative has contributed to creating jobs for local workers, helping many farmers no longer worry about the situation of "good harvest, low price". Thereby, contributing to helping people develop the economy and stabilize their lives. In the coming time, the Commune People's Committee will continue to support and connect the Cooperative to access policies and programs to support loans and techniques so that the Cooperative can develop and grow, creating more jobs for many workers.

From this result, we believe that in 2025 and the following years, the cooperative will continue to develop strongly, contributing to the local socio-economic development.
