Investment, trade, tourism and cultural cooperation between Thai Binh and Korea

That was the theme of the conference promoting investment, trade and tourism between Thai Binh and Korea held by the Provincial People's Committee on the morning of December 2.

Former President Truong Tan Sang; Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh; Provincial Party Secretary Ngo Dong Hai and delegates from central ministries, branches, and leaders of the Provincial People's Committee attended the conference.

Attending the conference on the Korean side were Mr. Lee Myung Bak, former President of Korea; Mr. Choi Young Sam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Korea to Vietnam.

Central delegates included comrades: Truong Tan Sang, former Politburo member, former President; Nguyen Khac Dinh, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; and leaders of a number of central ministries and branches.

On the side of Thai Binh province, there were comrades: Ngo Dong Hai, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Khac Than, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; comrades of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, leaders of the People's Council, People's Committee, National Assembly delegation of the province and departments, branches, districts and cities. Also attending were leaders of Nam Dinh province; representatives of a number of investors in infrastructure of industrial parks and clusters in the province; representatives of large corporations and enterprises of Vietnam and Korea.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Khac Than, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, affirmed that this is an important event for Thai Binh province and the domestic and foreign business community; at the same time, he hoped that through the conference, many new development opportunities and new relations in investment cooperation between Vietnam and Korea in general, and between Thai Binh province and Korean partners in particular will be opened up.

Regarding the potential, advantages, and socio-economic development of the province, he emphasized: Thai Binh province has many favorable factors in terms of geographical location, traffic connections, human resources, energy, resources, culture, and land fund for industrial production. In recent years, the image and reputation of Thai Binh have been significantly improved and enhanced, becoming one of the bright spots for the efforts to rise up: The province's socio-economy has developed quite rapidly and comprehensively towards industrialization and modernization; the total product in the area (GRDP) in 2023 is estimated to reach over 68,000 billion VND, 1.3 times higher than in 2020; the average growth rate in the period 2021 - 2023 is estimated at 8.56%/year; the total registered FDI capital in the province in 2023 will reach over 3 billion USD. For Thai Binh province, Korea has always been a reliable and important partner in many fields. There are currently 30 projects of Korean investors operating in the province with a total registered investment capital of 256 million USD. Regarding people-to-people and local foreign affairs, in recent times, Thai Binh province has established and had relationships with a number of Korean localities such as Chungcheongbuk province, Gyongsangbuk province, Gyeonggi province, Icheon city, Yeongju city and has implemented a number of cooperation activities in various fields, especially cooperation on seasonal labor.

The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed his desire to cooperate comprehensively in many fields with all Korean partners, including the exchange and import and export of goods; at the same time, he wished to expand opportunities for cooperation in education, training, health care, and cultural and labor exchanges with Korean localities and partners.

He respectfully invited Korean investors and partners to come and study investment opportunities and business cooperation in the province; at the same time, he committed that the province always creates a transparent, equal and attractive investment and business environment; creates the most favorable conditions for investors; directs the investment promotion working group from Korea (Korea Desk Thai Binh) and the Provincial Investment Support, Promotion and Development Center to provide maximum support to investors, accompany investors, and promptly resolve all difficulties and problems of investors throughout the investment process and production and business activities in the province.

Speaking at the conference, comrade Nguyen Khac Dinh, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, highly appreciated the dynamism of the provincial leaders, the active participation of the government apparatus at all levels and the attention of the Central Government in attracting investment, attracting foreign direct investment as well as attracting investment from Korea.

He expressed his belief that the cooperation between Thai Binh province and Korean partners will develop more and more strongly; many Korean investors will come to learn about investment and invest successfully, and develop strongly with Thai Binh in the coming time. At the same time, he wished that the comprehensive strategic partnership and cooperation between Vietnam and Korea and the development cooperation between Thai Binh province and Korean agencies, organizations, enterprises and localities will be more and more practical, effective and achieve many new achievements in the coming time.

Expressing his joy at attending the conference, Mr. Lee Myung Bak, former President of the Republic of Korea, affirmed: This is a very meaningful and important event because Thai Binh is very suitable for Korean investors to come and learn and organize production and business activities. On the basis of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea, the former President of the Republic of Korea expressed his belief that in the coming time, the cooperation between enterprises of the two countries will be increasingly strengthened and become better; at the same time, he hoped that through the event, more Korean investors will know about Thai Binh province and choose Thai Binh province as their investment destination.

The former President of South Korea also hopes that the leaders of the Party, State, central ministries and branches and the leaders of Thai Binh province will increase dialogue with businesses to promptly remove difficulties, always create the best conditions, have the best mechanisms and provide maximum support for Korean businesses to invest in Vietnam in general and Thai Binh province in particular.

In his closing speech, comrade Ngo Dong Hai, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee affirmed: Although this is the second time the Thai Binh - Korea investment promotion conference has been held in the province, there are many new feelings, new attitudes and new content; proving that Thai Binh province has expanded cooperation with Korean partners to a new height; affirming the great potential for cooperation in culture, education, investment, trade and many other fields; thereby tightening the friendly cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Korea.

The Provincial Party Secretary sincerely thanked the leaders of the Party, State, ministries, central branches and Korean investors and partners; at the same time, he expressed his hope that the results of the conference would open up cooperation and coordination between Thai Binh and Korean organizations, localities, investors and enterprises with many new good results in the coming time.

At the conference, the investment registration certificate was granted to Hitejinro Company to invest in a project in Lien Ha Thai Industrial Park (Thai Thuy), with a total investment of 100 million USD; HuM&C Company to invest in a project in Tien Hai Industrial Park (Tien Hai), with a total investment of 6 million USD; SH TECH Company Limited to invest in a project in Vu Hoi Industrial Cluster (Vu Thu), with a total investment of 3.5 million USD. At the same time, a cooperation agreement on labor was granted between the People's Committee of Kien Xuong District, the People's Committee of Vu Thu District and the Icheon City Government (Gyeonggi Province); a cooperation agreement on industry and trade was signed between Long Hau Ceramics Joint Stock Company and Solim Eng Company Limited, Thanh Chat Export Textile Mechanical Company Limited and Uchang Industry Company, Nam Cao Linen Cooperative and Symposium Inc & Bridge Association Inc; Signing of cooperation agreement on education between Thai Binh University and 3 Korean partners including MC Holdings Vietnam Co., Ltd., Vietnam - Korea Center (Seoul National University) and Busan University of Foreign Studies (Korea).

The leaders witnessed and congratulated 3 Korean investors receiving investment registration certificates from the Provincial People's Committee at the conference. Vu Thu District People's Committee and Kien Xuong District People's Committee signed a cooperation agreement on the local seasonal labor program with the Icheon City Government, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea.
