Recently in Phan Thiet City, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development held a meeting to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Fisheries Industry's Traditional Day (April 1, 1959 - April 1, 2024). Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Chien - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development reviewed the industry's traditions.
Accordingly, on this day 65 years ago, Uncle Ho visited fishing villages on the islands of Co To, Tuan Chau in Quang Ninh province and Cat Ba in Hai Phong city. Here, he kindly asked about the daily life and production of fishermen and he advised "Our silver sea is owned by our people". In response to the wishes of the Fisheries industry and the majority of fishermen, on March 18, 1995, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 173/QD-TTg officially taking April 1 every year as the Traditional Day of the Fisheries industry.
The leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development read a congratulatory letter from Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan on the occasion of the traditional day of the Fisheries sector (April 1) and the 10th anniversary of the launch of the Vietnam Fisheries Surveillance Force (April 15).
The content of the letter emphasized that, through the process of construction and development, under the leadership of the Party and the State, with the joint efforts of generations of cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers in the fisheries sector, we have made great strides in development and remarkable growth, contributing significantly to the stability and socio-economic development of the country; along with that journey, the Vietnam Fisheries Surveillance force has made great progress, accompanying fishermen to go offshore, stick to the sea, contributing to maintaining security and sovereignty of the sea and islands. The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development commended, acknowledged and congratulated the achievements and great contributions of the sector and its people in recent years. Also at the meeting, Mr. Ho Dung Nhat - former member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, former Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, former Director of the Department of Fisheries expressed his pride in the achievements of the fisheries sector in the province, especially the increasingly developed deep processing technology of aquatic products, opportunities for international integration. He hopes that the industry will continue to develop, along with protecting resources, constantly improving technology, techniques, etc.
