The longest river bridge on the North-South expressway was completed

The North-South Expressway project in the East, Dien Chau - Bai Vot section, has 31 road bridges; of which, Hung Duc bridge across Lam river connecting Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces is the longest river-crossing bridge on the route.

Hung Duc Bridge is an important item of the Dien Chau - Bai Vot Project constructed by 5 contractors: Hoa Hiep Company Limited, CIENCO4 Group Joint Stock Company, Thai Yen Construction Investment Joint Stock Company, Dai Hiep Company Limited and 456 Joint Stock Company.

The bridge was designed in the divergence phase with a scale of 2 motor vehicle lanes (bridge width 17.5m), bridge length 90 spans, including 76 super T spans and 14 cantilever spans (with 3 large cantilever spans crossing Lam River with a span of 120m). The total global length is 4,015m and the construction cost is about 1,317 billion VND. This is also the longest river crossing bridge on the North-South expressway.

Hung Duc Bridge is one of the technically complex construction items and is the "critical" item of the project's progress. During the construction process, the contractors encountered many difficulties due to storms (the temporary bridge was washed away by floods twice), the impact of storms, completing procedures to implement construction within the dike area...

During the finishing stage, the investor and contractors organized overtime and increased shifts to implement the remaining items, completing the project according to the direction of the Government and the Ministry of Transport.

After more than 30 months of construction, experienced contractors, with determination and utmost effort, mobilized talented personnel, materials, machinery and equipment and organized continuous construction in 3 shifts, 4 shifts, during holidays and Tet. Up to this point, Hung Duc Bridge has been completed more than 95% of the volume, exceeding the planned schedule.

On March 16, 2024, the investor consortium and Phuc Thanh Hung Investment Joint Stock Company organized the closing ceremony of Hung Duc Bridge, part of the Dien Chau - Bai Vot construction investment component project, marking an important milestone of the progress critical path item, striving to complete the entire project according to the contract signed with the Ministry of Transport.

The closing of Hung Duc bridge is very important. From today, the coordination of personnel, vehicles, supplies and materials can go on the bridge, contributing to speeding up the construction progress to complete Hung Duc bridge in particular and the whole project.

The milestone of the Hung Duc Bridge closing is the result of a smooth coordination process, the close attention of the Ministry of Transport and its specialized agencies, Project Management Board 6; the companionship and facilitation of localities where the route passes through, Departments, Boards, sectors, districts and communes of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces; the efforts to overcome difficulties, "overcome the sun, overcome the rain" of the consortium of investors, project enterprises and contractors.

When completed, the Hung Duc Bridge project will not only be an important item on the North-South Expressway but also create an inter-regional and inter-provincial traffic connection system, meeting the transportation needs of the whole country, promoting the land area between the two regions, expanding new development space, creating landscapes - architectural works bearing the local identity to serve tourism development. At the same time, the project also promotes the solidarity and close relationship between the people of the two localities of Nghe An and Ha Tinh, gradually completing the traffic network of the North Central region.

So far, the Lam River section from Hung Nguyen district to Cua Lo town has had 5 bridges over the river, promoting local socio-economic development.
