On March 19, Deo Ca Group (the construction unit of the Ho Chi Minh road project, Chon Thanh - Duc Hoa section) organized the closing ceremony of Thanh An bridge, spanning the Saigon river.
The closing of Thanh An Bridge is an important milestone towards the technical opening of the entire Ho Chi Minh Highway section through Binh Duong province before April 30, 2025, to celebrate the Liberation Day of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975) and complete the entire project in August 2025, 4 months shorter than the contract schedule.
The Ho Chi Minh Road project, Chon Thanh - Duc Hoa section, is 72.75km long and passes through 4 provinces: Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh and Long An.
The project is divided into 3 construction packages. In which, the Deo Ca Group joint venture will carry out package XL1, the section through Binh Duong with a length of 31.15km. There are 6 bridges on the route including: Phuoc Hoa Canal, Cay Truong, Ba Tu, Thi Tinh, Suoi Tre and Thanh An.
According to the representative of the construction unit of the XL1 package, currently 5 out of 6 bridges have completed the bridge deck; the road section has basically completed the ground construction, and is currently constructing the road surface foundation of all kinds, of which 21 km has been paved with asphalt concrete.
Mr. Pham Van Hung - Deputy General Director of Deo Ca Group said that the biggest difficulty in the project implementation process is continuing to complete the construction of previously unfinished bridges.
According to Mr. Hung, due to the influence of natural conditions and weather, after more than 12 years of exposure to sun and rain, some structural items of the bridges were damaged, the steel waiting for rust was damaged and the steel structure was stolen, making the connection difficult.
For example, at Ba Tu Bridge and Thi Tinh Bridge, all the steel parts of the breast wall and the abutment wing walls were stolen. Thanh An Bridge only has 2 piles left at pier T7, located in the middle of the river, so the completion takes a lot of time and money.
According to Mr. Hung, the construction unit is currently rushing to implement the project, striving to complete it 4 months ahead of schedule. However, the difficulty being encountered is the site clearance for the project, which has not yet been resolved.
Currently, Bau Bang district still has 3 locations, including 1 household on the route from Km11+641 to Km11+681 and the intersections of DT750 and DH614, 10 locations with technical infrastructure works that have not been relocated; Dau Tieng district still has 2 households and 5 rubber garden locations at the intersections, 7 locations with technical infrastructure works that have not been relocated.
Delayed site handover greatly affects the construction progress and project completion plan. If the locality does not handle the situation thoroughly, it will be difficult for the contractor to complete the task as committed.
The Ho Chi Minh Road project, Chon Thanh - Duc Hoa section, started in 2009, but was suspended in 2011. After 12 years of suspension, the project was restarted in November 2023 to continue completing unfinished construction items, avoiding wasting State investment capital, contributing to connecting the entire Ho Chi Minh Road from Pac Bo (Cao Bang) to Dat Mui (Ca Mau), contributing to sharing traffic volume with National Highway 1 and the main roads along the Southeast region. |
