On the morning of June 29, the Provincial Statistics Office held a press conference to announce socio-economic statistics for the first 6 months of 2023. Attending the press conference were leaders of a number of departments and branches; reporters from news agencies in the province.
According to the announcement of the General Statistics Office, the economic growth rate in the first 6 months of 2023 in the province is estimated to increase by 3.29% over the same period in 2022. In the increase of the total added value of the whole economy, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector increased by 2.29%, contributing 0.49 percentage points to the overall growth; the industry and construction sector decreased by 5.47%, decreasing by 1.18 percentage points; the service sector increased by 7.29%, contributing 3.89 percentage points; product taxes minus product subsidies increased by 2.34%, contributing 0.09 percentage points.
The scale of the economy at current prices reached VND 10,673 billion, of which the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector reached VND 2,187 billion, accounting for 20.49%; the industry and construction sector reached VND 2,121 billion, accounting for 19.87%; the service sector reached VND 5,950 billion, accounting for 55.75%; product taxes minus product subsidies reached VND 415 billion, accounting for 3.89%. The industrial production index decreased by 3.22% over the same period in 2022, mainly in the electricity production and distribution sector (down 39.97%).
The results of the survey on business trends of enterprises in the processing and manufacturing industry show that 37.5% of enterprises assessed the production and business situation in the second quarter of 2023 to be better than the first quarter of 2023, 37.5% of enterprises assessed the production and business situation to be stable, and 25% of enterprises assessed the production and business situation to be more difficult. It is expected that in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the second quarter of 2023, 25% of enterprises forecast a better production and business situation, 37.5% of enterprises forecast a stable production and business situation, and 37.5% of enterprises forecast a more difficult production and business situation.
Total social development investment capital in the province in the first 6 months of 2023 is estimated at 3,022.29 billion VND, down 11.08% over the same period last year. Of the state sector's investment capital, the state budget investment capital is 1,243.24 billion VND, accounting for 68.96%. Of which, VND 1,130.26 billion is locally managed capital, an increase of 36.87% over the same period last year, equal to 32.08% of the detailed annual plan, mainly due to the increase in capital for implementing target programs compared to the first years in the period 2021 - 2025. Investment capital from the non-state sector decreased sharply compared to the same period because large projects invested by non-state capital in the province are all transitional projects, basically completed in 2022, in the first 6 months of 2023, only the remaining works were completed.
Due to no longer being negatively affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, people's demand for consumption, food and entertainment has increased. At the same time, gasoline prices have decreased compared to the same period, creating favorable conditions for production and business activities of enterprises. The total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue is estimated at VND 5,198.22 billion, up 38.85% over the same period last year. Of which, retail sales of goods are estimated at VND 3,945.74 billion, up 28.00%; revenue from accommodation and food services is estimated at VND 895.51 billion, up 104.03%; revenue from tourism services is estimated at VND 4.36 billion, up 124.55%; revenue from other services is estimated at VND 352.61 billion, up 60.14%.
The average consumer price index for the first 6 months increased by 2.03% compared to the same period last year. The average CPI compared to the same period last year increased in most commodity groups, with only 2 groups having a price index decrease: the transportation group decreased by 4.30%, mainly due to the fuel group decreasing by 18.02% and the post and telecommunications group decreasing by 1.04% due to the price reduction of some mobile phone equipment items.
