Meeting to discuss organizing the 2025 Tien Phong Newspaper National Marathon and Long Distance Championship in Quang Tri

This afternoon, November 26, Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam worked with the delegation of Tien Phong Newspaper led by Editor-in-Chief Phung Cong Suong to coordinate the organization of the 66th Tien Phong Newspaper National Marathon and Long Distance Championship in 2025 in Quang Tri province to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day April 30 (1975 - 2025).

According to the proposal of Tien Phong Newspaper, the 2025 Tien Phong Newspaper National Marathon and Long Distance Championship is expected to be held at Hien Luong Bridge area from April 4 to 6. Of which, April 4 to 5 is the time to welcome and return racekits to athletes, organize sideline activities, and flag-raising ceremony; April 6 is the official competition day. The tournament has 4 competition distances including: 5 km, 10 km, 21.1 km and 42.195 km for professional athletes, domestic and foreign amateur athletes with the expected number of participating athletes being limited to 10,000 people.

The Tien Phong Newspaper National Marathon and Long Distance Championship is the only tournament in Vietnam where athletes compete in two separate categories: a prize system for professional athletes competing for the National Championship and a prize system for amateur athletes competing with international runners. For the amateur marathon and half marathon, athletes divide the prizes by gender (male - female) and age groups: 16 - 29, 30 - 39, 40 - 49, 50 - 59 and 60 years old and above.

The 2025 Tien Phong Newspaper National Marathon and Long Distance Championship has the message "Triumph". The 42 km running route will be built and led into a story, a film about the formation and development of the country, about the struggle to protect the Fatherland. Each athlete when running under the national flag, led by the story of the heroic history of the nation, experiencing, learning, feeling the past through sound, images, through the inspiration, connecting in the sacred land of Quang Tri will be unforgettable memories and impressions.

At the meeting, delegates focused on discussing issues such as tournament time, competition route, accommodation for athletes; racekit distribution location; slogan and communication work of the tournament; research on socialization plans; work to ensure traffic safety, security, order, health care, etc.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam emphasized that the 2025 Tien Phong Newspaper National Marathon and Long Distance Championship is a major event, contributing significantly to promoting the image of the land and people of Quang Tri; promoting the development of the sports movement in general, and running in particular; attracting domestic and foreign tourists to Quang Tri. This is also an important event in the series of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day on April 30.

Agree with Tien Phong Newspaper's proposal on the tournament's organization time from April 4 to 6. For the 42 km distance, it is suggested to choose the starting point in Dong Ha City. For the specific running routes, for the remaining distances, Tien Phong Newspaper is suggested to coordinate with the provincial departments and branches to survey and select to ensure suitability and convenience for athletes. Create conditions for athletes to attend and experience the flag-raising ceremony at Hien Luong flagpole.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate in designing suitable tours and routes for athletes to experience when coming to Quang Tri to participate in the tournament. At the same time, build a series of activities for athletes to feel a reviving and developing Quang Tri.
