Meeting to discuss cooperation content between Lao Cai province and Nouvelle Aquitaine region (France) for the period 2025

On the morning of May 31, after attending working sessions within the framework of the 20th anniversary of cooperation between Lao Cai province (Vietnam) and the Nouvelle Aquitaine region (France), at the headquarters of the Nouvelle Aquitaine Regional Council (France), a meeting took place between the Lao Cai Provincial Working Group and leaders and project officers (France) to orient cooperation contents for the period 2025 - 2027.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Pascal Duforeste, Vice President of the Nouvelle Aquitaine Regional Council; Jean Michel Arrivé, Director of the region's international cooperation department; Carine Vernhes, European Commissioner for International Affairs of the region and project coordinators.

On the Lao Cai province side, there were comrades: Hoang Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Ly Thi Vinh, Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission; Giang Thi Dung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and members of the working delegation.

At the meeting, delegates watched a report on the results of cooperation activities between Lao Cai province (Vietnam) and the Nouvelle Aquitaine region (France); listened to Ms. Pascale Maitreau, project officer, present a report on the results and difficulties and challenges in the process of implementing cooperation contents; and proposed cooperation contents in the period 2025 - 2027.

Next, the two sides focused on discussing, analyzing and evaluating cooperation content in the following areas: ecological agriculture (Ideas Project); biodiversity observation and environmental education; adventure sports and tourism products; conservation and promotion of local heritage; Francophone community and vocational training.

Along with that, discuss 4 cooperation contents for the period 2025 - 2027 (protection and promotion of the value of cultural and natural heritages; training and development of human resources; research, construction and development of tourism products and adventure sports; food safety, ecological agriculture and forestry) as well as some other issues of mutual interest to both sides, such as: support for raising and hatching salmon eggs in Sa Pa; cooperation in the field of medicine and medicinal herbs; support for training medical staff; support for consulting on the development of festivals related to the theme of rivers, etc.

Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Hoang Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, thanked the French Government and the Nouvelle Aquitaine Regional Council for their assistance, support and responsible cooperation, and suggested that both sides share the responsibility to discuss and agree on solutions to overcome difficulties and find common solutions to improve the quality of cooperation more effectively. The visit and work with localities and partners of the region and participation in experiential activities left very special emotions for the delegation.

On behalf of the Nouvelle Aquitaine Regional Council, Mr. Pascal Duforeste, Vice President of the Regional Council, affirmed that the cooperation contents between the two sides in culture, tourism, education and environmental protection... have basically been organized and implemented, bringing relatively good, sustainable and appropriate results. The Vice President of the Nouvelle Aquitaine Regional Council also highly agreed with the cooperation contents for the period 2025 - 2027 and suggested that the two sides continue to accelerate the progress and quality of the cooperation contents.

At the meeting, the two sides agreed to accelerate the process of finding new partners for new contents related to medicine, health, herbs, salmon farming, festival organization, architectural and urban planning. The two sides also agreed to assign the advisory agencies to complete the Draft Cooperation Agreement for the period 2025 - 2027 to proceed to sign an official agreement.

At the end of the meeting, comrade Hoang Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, on behalf of the Lao Cai provincial delegation, presented souvenirs to the Nouvelle Aquitaine region, successfully concluding the working trip to the French Republic ( photo above ).
